P0420 and P1448 I HATE the cel
back story - less than a month ago i had a warpspeed y pipe, high flow cat last o2 (after main cat) and megan cat-back installed. had ks code and P1447. cleared, but the repeatedly came back.
yesterday - Just had the ks replaced and the evap solonid above the throttle body replaced and new plugs put in. cleared those codes and the car went right through inspection.
now tonight i get the 420 and 1448.
i have searched and found this:
i highly doubt the cat died in a month, but i'm not sure how old the front 2 o2's are and the rear one is new.
now on the 1448 thats the the charcoal canister vent valve stuck open. i found a write up on how to clean it and possibly get some more life out of it before replacing it.
i am curious if my thought to clean the canister vent is worthwile, or just to replace it.
also looking for other peoples experiences with thes codes and how they solved the problem.
i cleared both codes, but i am betting they will be back shortly.
all of this happened within about 3k miles.
thanks

0420 is a cat fault. but generally aged o2 can/ have been the cause.
because the 0420 happens when the data from the front 02 and the rear 02's are out of specs. the rear o2 is design to measure how well the cat is doing its job. now if you have a front o2 that is aging it will give you the wrong info and return that info will not be remotely close to what the rear 02 needs therefore causing the CEL 0420 to show up because the car thinks the cat is not doing its job but in fact that the cat is fine, but the 02 is giving out wrong info normally due to age.
most of our cars are nearing 10 years old and well frankly o2 are being aged. It might be a lazy 02 where it works and doesn't work at times but you ECU cant really pick that up so it won't throw a fault for it.

i would guess mate that if your front O2 sensors are bad ... they would show up with different codes. my only guess on the 0420 code is that the rear O2 sensor is reading right and the front 2 are not. (this is only under the assumption that the rear sensor is new - right?) so ... that being the case, it would make sense the front sensors are not reading right and thus throwing the codes. did you use a direct replacement part or a universal sensor in the rear?
