Cold Starts Problem

I own a 97 SE, I bought it in March . On cold days when I start it the RPM's go up , and then go down and sometimes the car stalls. This happened thee first week I bought it , and I took it back to the dealer......I thought they had fixed the problem. It started happening again last week. The check engine light has not come on , so it's not putting out any codes to tell me what's wrong . Has anyone had this problem ? Would this problem normally be covered by the engine warranty ?

If you still have a warranty go back to the dealer you baught it from.

It could be the engine temperature sensor.

had same problem

yeah i feel ya
i bought mine in jan. of 2001. mines also 97 pearl white SE.
in the morning when i start ma car up rpm jumps up and down and it dies. so i couldn't figure it out til recently. i got remote starter about a month ago and it was worthless since the rpm jumps un and down and stalls. so i asked ma buddy who works at autozone. and he said it's tha battery. he also explained that hondas, nissans, and mazda uses HITACHI batteries and they SUCK A$$. so i got ma battery changed. and tha problems gone~~~ hehe so just go to autozone and get your battery checked up. it's FREE. i bet your batterys almost dying. hope it's tha battery GOOD LUCK and let me know how it turns out...
