need assistance with steering problem...

ok, so heres the deal. first off let me tell you what I have replaced, I replaced the inner and outer tire rod. When I first had it checked, my steer was pulling to the left, they told me I needed the inner tire rod. when it was replaced, it then pulled more to the right. I had no charge for the alignment because they said the alignment was still off and it was the rack and pinion, or whatever it is. So I then took it back agian, then this time they said it was my outer tire rod. Well you know whats coming............my car steering feels exactly the same, no diff. my car still pulls to the right a little. My question or concern is, number one, If my car is aligned, should the steering wheel be in the middle or somwhat close to the middle in order to be aligned or can the car be aligned with (how my steering wheel is) the wheel off to the left about 5-7 inches? Number 2, were those replacements even needed to help the situation out?
Im sorry about the long post, My ideal outcome would have been to leave there with my wheel centered and aligned with my tires. Thanks for any help!!!!

have you check tire pressure?

just how would you feel if that was it? ROFL

it could also be a broken belt in the tire or a bent rim.

Your should get the car back with a centered steering wheel after it's aligned.
Pulling issues are related to tires, camber and caster, not toe.

Did you get the report from the shop with your alignment specs? You should get a print out of exactly how the front end is set up. Post those specs so we can see how the car is tracking.

Hi guys, i don't mean to hijack this thread, but i'm in exactly the same boat as JUS10. I've replaced ALL (and i do mean all!!) suspension/streering components (except for the rack). The car pulls to the right past 25mi/hr (i even have to steer to the left a slow speeds sometimes)

I THINK that it started happening when i got new Bridgestone potenzas last winter. I'm not sure however, seeing how i was replacing every suspesion part @ the same time.

In any case, multiple allignments @ Firestone (i know, they suck) and NTB, yielded no results. NTB said that the front-end is 100% straight and even rotated my tires for free. But still the same darn thing!! I'm tired of having replaced all of the front-end parts and still having to keep the teering wheel to the left!!!

Should i try some HS balancing, or it wouldn't matter?

heynow - Post your alignment specs from the print out you got from Firestone.
Balancing doesn't effect alignment, pulls ect. Just vibrations.

have they checked for the rear toe in/out spec? that could be why your still pulling to the right, also are your strut mount/bearings in good shape, if not they could cause a caster issue which would cause your probem as well.........

Thanks I'm flattered I guess that's why they said it couldn't BE anymore straight, lol. NTB seems to do a good job.

But the problem is that the darn thing pulls to the right like a ****. I always have to keep the steering wheel cocked to the left by 2 inches. It starts "drifting" to the right past 20mi/hr and then gets a 'lil worse past 35 and i still have to keep left a bit past 60.

That print out is actually the 3RD (yes, THIRD) allignment i've had done within a 2-month time period. I still have some time left on their 6-month guarantee, but i doubt they would do anything different this time.

I had a bad pull problem, I rotated my tires and it helped a lot. Maybe you just have bad tires?
