timing belt or chain?

Does my Maxima have a belt or a chain? If it has a belt, when does it need to be changed?

I had a similar question earlier because I owned a 3rd gen. max as well and I believe it had a belt so it made me curious.

BUT...I'm pretty sure we have chains and they should last for life...this is a previous thread that says all 4th Gen. have chains

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....t=timing+chain

Hope this helps!

PS

Sorry...another post...

FYI: try using the search funciton as often as possible...it will help you out TONS when you're looking for all kinds of stuff. It's up in the top, righthand corner of the screen. I was all sorts of pumped when I joined and asked questions that had already been asked and answered. I found out the older guys (read: experienced board members) kinda try to direct people to the search function so they don't spend their time answering the same question a hundred times....

Welcome aboard! Hope it helps you enjoy your ride even more

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

The eternal question!! And the eternal answer - SEARCH.
Anyways you have a chain, if you are in the right forum.

Thanks! I'm a newby to this forum. My wife and I purchased the car new (her car) and I now doing all of the maintance items.

I have always changed the oil (mobile one)and filter at 4000 miles. I was just wondering if I missed anything.

It still drives like new...78,000 miles. I wish I knew about this site a long time ago. Very helpful...especially the fault codes (55).
