Another EBay Clown!

Check this aution out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=597151063

This guy claims he's selling a 99 SE=l with 67 miles! Look at the worn floor mats and notice non-factory wheel weights along with Continential tires! I know the factory Toyos were poor but I didn't know they lasted less than 67 miles! The sad part is there are people who will believe this dealer.

I agree..that kirkland battery seems odd...but I checked the car on carfax and it checks out okay. Only had 12 miles in March 2000 and is registered as a corporate fleet vehicle..

bid is over $15G now

Okay... i thought about this one for a minute. If the car has only 67 miles on it two things are very possible:

1. The battery died because of the lack of use and needed replaced
2. The tires dry rotted, cracked, and needed replaced, again, due to lack of use.

So it is possible that the car has only 67 miles on it.

A/C

Notice the climate control module is one from a 95-97 model? A 99', like my 98, has a different one.

Plus the seats are a little worn.......
If anyone is serious about buying this car look at his EBAY feedback. I think this car is probably a 97' with an upgraded odometer, new paint job, and SE labels......hmmmm

I think it has a new ODO in it. THe leather is worn, look at the corners of the seats... The back of the seat rest it REALLY DIRTY, you can see hand prints all over the leather. All the dust in the Intake scoop? a bit much for a non driver...oh and one last thing... the aftermarket wood dash and trim... it's not a GLE, its an SE right? oh and the most obvious... the front bumper doesn't match the rest of the car...

Just noticed something else. The E-Brake handle doesn't match the rest of the interior. It should be light brown not black with a beige interior. Just another thought. hehe Poor bidding saps.

It looks to me that its rear center seat has a two-point, instead of three-point rear center seatbelt introduced in 1999 (according to edmunds.com). If so, then it is a 98 or earlier model.

First off it's not even a 99!!! It's a 97 maybe. The Automatic climate control is different then my 99. HA HA HA

And please, my car is cleaner then that with 37,000 on it.

Wheel weights should be the same Platinum color as the wheels as mine were on the stock SE-L wheels.

What a scam. Someone should tell e-bay about that.

Refer to my sig for a real clean 99 SE-L in much better shape that that thing.

Wow, that is rediculous. Great match on the front bumper paint

I'm also glad that Nissan is going to go back to the 1995-99 body style in the year 11999, talk about retro !

well I thought the SE-L's were the 99.5's so if it is a 99 (sold in late 98) then it would have the plain alum rims... but it's not what they say it is

The climate control is from a 97 or lower. That was changed in 98. I missed the e-brake too. I think this car was a theft recovery and items such as the speedo, climate/radio cluster, and center console were stolen and replaced with parts from older maximas. There isn't much we can do except for report him to ebay. But, most cases its "buyer beware." I honestly feel ebay is the worst place to buy a used car because pictures and b.s. statements can make a lemon look like a gem.

This car is obviously not brand new. I bought my gxe with 10,000 miles on it and it was brand new. It was very clean and smelled like new. The engine bay was much more cleaner than what this guy has. The reason I didn't buy a GLE was because the leather was worn out. PRETTY MUCH LIKE THE LEATHER IN THE PICTURES. This car is dirty and looks like it has around 70,000 miles. FRAUD. People like this need to be shot, seriously. Stuff like this ****es me off.

MAXIMA letters......

I could be wrong but aren't the letters on the trunk of the silver 99' SE-L's a gray color instead of the chrome?

On the one picture there is only 1/4 of a gas tank. That means we only get 100 miles on each tank.

Look how dirty the floor carpet is!!! Also, the shift handle is beige in beige interior cars. Something has to be done.

One more thing, not sure because I have a 97, but I thought the '99 SE had the cool slide out tray under the radio instead of the pull open one...

Also, does the 1999 have those big cap nuts for the front struts? I don't think my '97 is like that... However, it does appear to be a 1999 from the engine compartment. If you look closely, it looks like there is 4 connectors (from side view of engine compartment) in front of the front valve cover for the emissions connectors...

Just as a general point he/she has it set up as a private auction. Why the hell would you want to protect the bidder's identity, it's just a car. It's not like he is buying porno or something. Oh that's right...he doesn't want us or anyone else to warn him about his scam.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/investigates.html

go here to report this idiot, I already did, but the more the merrier, the auction ends in 7 hours though!

This is the email I submitted via the form. It's just everything here, cut and pasted into the form. I hope they shut him down.

Just thought you might like to know that this seller is blatently lying about this vehicle. It is very apparent with little thought into the matter, let me outline exactly what is wrong with this auction...

He "claims" that there are only 67 miles, yet...

There are non factory wheel weights on the wheels, who brings in a car for balancing after 67 miles?

Look at the floormats, they show alot of use, surely not 67 miles.

The tires are "Continential tires", Maxima's ship with factory Toyo tires. And they DON'T wear out after 67 miles.

Notice the climate control module is one from a 95-97 model? A 99', like my 98, has a different one.

After 67 miles, there is now a "kirkland" battery. I'm pretty sure Nissan doesn't purchase their batteries from Costco.

The seats are also very worn and dirty.

The aftermarket wood dash and trim DO NOT come with an SE model, only the GLE.

The most obvious part of this scam is the front bumper, which has such a bad paint job on it, it doesn't even fit the rest of the car.

The E-Brake handle doesn't match the rest of the interior. It should be light brown not black with a beige interior.

It looks to me that its rear center seat has a two-point, instead of three-point rear center seatbelt introduced in 1999 (according to edmunds.com). If so, then it is a 98 or earlier model.

I am hoping you invesitgate this promptly, because there are quite a few bids on this item, and most likely from uneducated buyers about to get ripped off. I would normally just have emailed them, but this is a private auction, most likely simply to prevent this exact same fact.

You guys missed something. This will PROVE that this car is not a 1999 model.

Sterling Mist was ONLY available with black interior in 1999. Tan wasn't a choice with Sterling Mist.

No doubt in my mind. This car is a 1997. It got in a serious wreck (notice the intake piece on the left of the battery is dented up). He had it repainted Sterling Mist. Slapped in a '99 odometer and some SE-L badges and VOILA!

FRAUD!

Good work Rooster286! I see EBay doesn't give two sheets about this! Please don't forget we know more about that Maxima than Nissan does and the average person is not going to know about what climate control, interior, tires, and etc. are suppose to come with the car. However, Ebay should pickup on the battery and wheel weights as well as the mis-matched bumper, worn seats and carpet. The people bidding on this car are dumb because this seller has a few negative feedbacks about selling wrecked/reconditioned cars. Like I said its Buyer Beware!

I just wrote a nice big letter to safeharbor@ebay.com
Hopefully they can get to this guy and close the auction before it all ends. This is what CAN be done though. Create a new user name for ebay, bid on the car and then retract the bid with the comment saying something like: Do not buy this car, it is a fraudulent ad, repainted, repaired, etc.
