mmmmmm yummy.

Imagine all the crap that is now in your engine.
Regular maintenance ftw.

And maybe a bottle of fuel system cleaner on the next fill up.

hire someone with smaller hands...

jk.

i have medium sized hands...

i used needle nosed pliers to pinch the hoses right where the filter ends...

it displaces the pressure to that part making it abit easier...

i doubt its profound...i doubt its new...its probably really common but its been two years since i've done it and i've forgotten the tricks to doing this.

after reading several posts about how hard it was going to be, as well as hearing from 305blackmax that it will be extremely difficult to get the hoses off for the first time, mine was actually surprisingly easy.

I did it with MOHFpro90 and Silmax00 in about 20 minutes. no leaks !! (we had the airbox off tho, makes it a lot easier to get at)

Am I missing something here?? We are talking about replacing the fuel filter for the Max right? It should only really take like 10-15 min and there is really no trick to it.....

You'd think so. But with big hands and being lazy after doing a 5 hour overhaul something this easy has now become "Crap how the hell are these two hoses comin' off!"

I think a lot of people forget to do the fuel filter. It is easy to forget. I would get it changed asap, you might notice a little more pep in your car's step.

I had mine changed on my last grand prix at 167,000 miles and it was the original fuel filter. It wouldn't come off with wrenches, so I had to cut it off and fabricate a new section of the fuel line. What a PIA.

Two pairs of forscips one one the supply, one on the discharge to minimize the fuel draining all over the place. If you need to replace the flexible fuel hose at most you need a couple of dollars worth. Good insurance to boot. Most of the time its the factory original stuff that is present anyway and ought to be replaced.

it would be much easier to replace the fuel hose than to pull the filter off with your bare hands...

...turns out it wasnt the filter causing the stalling-

MAF.

440$ down the drain.

207.000+ KM, never had any issues or stalling with it though...it filters better when its dirty, until it completely clogs, i do not think it affects the fuel pressure enough to over heat the fuel pump tho...i believe the sediment to be fuel tank rust and other components deteriorating.

I can see I'm not the only one who found rust in their fuel filter.

which begs the question what grade steel is the fuel tank made of ?

its not supposed to rust, but it does, rather slowly, but still...I think i was wrong when i said i never had any issues with the dirty FF...I remember the first winter i owned the car, on really cold days/nights (ie; -10C or lower) it would crank, and almost catch on fully, the rpm would go wild and die unless i hit the gas...not that i think of it after i replaced the FF it never happened again...

Whats the freezing point of gasoline ? and does it become thicker at -10C or lower ? cause i think with an almost clogged filter the very thick gas flows a lot slower...

I work part time at jiffy lube. N i hate doing maxima fuel filters n altimas. old gms are even worse all they do is rust.

oh if u want better fuel economy. get a 2 or 3 step fuel system cleaner. the 1 that hangs and goes into a vacuum line ie; brakebooster. the liquid stuff not aerosol

as long as you relieve all the fuel pressure, this job is not bad at all. Mind you it did take about 10 cranks, starts, etc to relieve the pressure.
if you're really having trouble, pour some hot azz water on the hoses it will help. but honestly guys this is an easy job.

How much does jiffy lube charge for that?
