paint your manual climate control

Is there a way to take the cover off your trim of your manual climate control to paint it. i no you can do this with a auto climate control. i have been told that it is not easy to change manaul to auto. and if you buy those polised alluminum dash trim kits if that will work for the manual climate control. i am just trying to figure out a cheap way to change the look and avoid from buying those dash trim kits and doing it cheaper by painting it.

Yup, but you'll have to do some carefull masking to keep the fan speed numbers showing. Everything else comes off.

go out to a store like best buy or wall mart, buy oone of those tacky bling-your-cellphone kit, yes, the lil look-a-like diamonds that gurls glue all over their cellphones. make sure u get the one with gems big enough to cover the number. you are better off getting a kit with assorted sizes since the lil fan logo is a lil bigger then the numbers. use them to mask the numbers and the fan logo. worked for me. i will post pictures when i find the memory card.

Or, you could leave that part black.
Or, you could just paint the sides of that part.
I am thinking of painting mine too, but I'll either leave it black or paint only the sides.

or you could wrap it in vinyl. then just cut the part where the numbers are by the ****, or if not, the light will still shine thru it at night, i painted my piece and since i didnt feel like masking the numbers i just did a light coat of paint so the light still shines thru at night, specially with the l.e.d. mod. the first switch position is off, after that you can just count the clicks unless u really waht the numbers to be there. for more info on vynil wraping, go to youtube. theres alot of usefull videos on it there, look for the one guy doing a blue wrx, he vinyl wraps a remote control, his headlights, his mirrors, should give you an idea of how to do it, and the best part about it is that if you dont like, you can just remove it.
