Haha dude you dont need to take it to a shop..

This is like 30x easier than an oil change.

Use a standard ratchet set, unscrew one side, put the strut bar on, tighten the bolts, repeat for the other side.

There honestly isnt much to mess up at all.

You dont have to worry about overtightening as long as you dont strip anything, just make sure its snug.

No need to do just one side at a time, it's easier to do both sides of the bar at once.

6x14mm head nuts, done.

Writeup? Seriously?

I can make one right now if you'd like...

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAXIMA FRONT STRUT BARS
1 - Park vehicle on a level surface and open the hood to access the engine bay.
2 - Locate the three (3) upper shock absorber mounting nuts on each strut tower (left and right)
A. Remove the three (3) upper shock absorber mounting nuts (gold in color) for each side.
B. Install the left and right END-PLATES on the protruding shock absorber mounting studs.
Do not tighten the nuts yet, leave them loose.
C. Insert the MAIN BOLTS into the BAR UNIT.
Use END-PLATE bolts/nuts to connect the END-PLATES to the main bolts,
tighten only these END-PLATE bolts/nuts.
D. Adjust the distance between left and right END-PLATES by turning the BAR UNIT.
E. Use ADJUSTER NUTS to tighten MAIN BOLTS to the BAR UNIT.
F. Tighten the shock absorber nuts with a torque wrench to 35 ft/lbs, to fasten the END-PLATES along with shock absorbers to the car.
! ! DO NOT FORGET ABOVE STEP ! !
FAILURE TO DO SO IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS
G. Tighten all bolts/nuts properly to complete installation.

You mean just hand tighten them? No, that's idiotic. Use actual tools.

No, you won't need longer studs, unless for some reason the end plates on your FSTB are obscenely (Ron Jeremy style) thick.

i ment hand tightening with tools...vs a machine tool.(like a wheel lug tightener)

It's best to properly torque them, but you don't need one to do the job.

Torque for the upper strut mount nuts (only nuts you need to remove to install) is about 25ftlbs IIRC (could be 35 per the writeup, it really doesn't matter TOO much), so pretty much just "good and tight" with a regular socket wrench but not beyond that, use just a little bit of muscle after they are snug.

Anyone else having trouble getting the nuts off? (sorry that sounded )

I think i'm going to need to pick up a breaker/cheater bar for this, I tried with just a wrench and couldn't do it.

spray some wd40 or silicon on there and tap it with a wrench. mine were stuck on too, just gotta get em moving a little and you can overpower the rest.

I just use a 1/2'' rachet with a 14mm socket and those bolts came right off. No need for a breaker bar if you have a 1/2'' rachet.

Actually that write-up sucked.

You'll get much better, RE: actually noticable, results if you jack the front up by the center x-member and tighten the bar fully outwards before lowering.

Not trying to be a smart ***--but, after reading the thread I think you might want to add a step to put the nuts back on BEFORE jacking up the front of the car.....

Mine were put on so hard that I had to take it to a shop and they needed 10 mins, pb blaster and a 300 lb foot air gun to get mine off.

I broke a socket trying on my own...

this was in june of '06

my 99 didn't have that thing at all But since it's not connected to anything, cut it off or bend it, it doesn't matter.

Hey guys, is a one piece FBTS better than a three piece TSFB? Do I need tuner lugs after this mod?
