ok. KRZZ350 knows better than me, but sittin in your drivers seat, facing the unit, its the upper right wire of the right side plug and the upper left wire of the left side plug (there are two plugs that go into the back) that have to be spliced.

this step in the installl actually took a while. first me and my friend dint know which wires to splice, then we called krz and found out and still had to try 3 or 4 times to get them to touch fully.

each time we tried and didnt have the wires touching there was noise, just no music.
its not for power, cuz the thing powered up before the wires were spliced.

under the P501, the two plugs:
The Amp turn on is the one that must be jumpered. Jumper K to D.

Bose systems are a real pain to find an aux harness to hook something up, so good luck with that

The Bose am/fm/cassette/6-cd changer head unit from the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder fit nicely into my 96 Maxima. It is plug and play without any modifications. It does not have a flat faceplate like the original Bose but it looks nice. The sound quality IMO is much better than the original Bose system. The downside is it doesn't play MP3/WMA, though it does play burned CD-Rs. The 6-CD changer lets you randomly mix tracks between discs. The radio also has RDS.

<sorry no pics yet>

I don't know what it is about these Pathfinder Bose 6 cd players but out of the two I have bid on with eBay, I was outbid on both only to be contacted (via gmail) from the seller for a "Second Chance Offer." Naturally, they wanted me to send them the money, via Western Union, to the United Kingdom, and to make sure not to tell Western Union that the money was for an item off of eBay...friggin scammers

I think I jumped the correct wires, it was the pink one and the yellow one, right? K and D?...

Why is it that the LCD backlight is always on(The parking lights aren't even on)? Did I do something wrong?

yea the wires are called K and D, though its totally useless to know those letters because they arent marked. you might as well call them % and 9.
the way kevin explained was upper right of the right plug linked to the upper left of the left plug (as looking at it from the front)

youre saying the LCD screen is lit even when the cars lights arent on ?

i dont think thats supposed to be that way, though i will check tonight and let you know for sure.

Well I finally started installing mine today after buying a couple months ago. I was waiting for some other stuff to install so it would all be apart of the same project but who knows when I'll get the other stuff.

Anyhow I didn't get to finish because I had a bunch of other stuff come up. Only thing left is to splice K into D and I'll be set. I'm a little disappointed though. Everyone always talked about having the 6 cd changer but my car doesn't have the wires/connector to hook up the CD changer so it looks like no CD changer for me. So I'm a little sad, but what can you do. Tomorrow I'll have everything back in up and running.

when the unit is on but not playing anything, it is backlit.

when the unit is off, and the car is on, it is only mildly backlit (not full light).

Don't I need the cd changer connector for the CD changer to operate (as shown in the diagram a few posts up)?

im not really sure what youre asking. my pathfinder HU was plug and play - meaning i just removed the stock BOSE unit and plugged the two plugs into the back of the pathfinder one. and after linking wires k and D, everything worked perfectly.

what diagram ?

Maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself. I'll be finishing putting it in this afternoon. So apparently everything should work. Perhaps the cd changer connector from the original Bose HU is for an external cd changer.

are you talking about the third plug that is loose/taped to the bigger of the two plugs?

I'm talking about post #46. There is an image of the rear side of the maxima bose HU with 5 different connection points:

P501
J202
sub/main
cd changer
telephone

Now obviously the telephone connector is not needed. I have P501, J202, & Sub/main. But I don't have the cd changer connector. So I was wondering if I needed that connector for the CD changer in the Pathfinder HU to operate. But based upon what you said I shouldn't need that. So I think I was just getting ahead of myself. I should have just completely installed it before posting anything on here. I suppose if anything is not working properly when I plug it back in then I'll be back here.

naw you dont need that. i think thats for an external cd changer, like one that would go in your glovebox or trunk.

its not needed because everything in the pathfinder HU is internal.

it is still not clear about splicing
K and D confuse me a lot
if this marks are from wiring diagram, K is Ground wire (if available) and D is Left rear speaker, D is even not at the corner.
When you talk about sides of harnesses... OK, in the new unit they are upside-down and in the opposite sequence.

Looking on the diagram I can assume two possibilities:
K to F
F is Amp ground wire
and most likely
G to B
G is +12 Volt ignition wire, B is Amplifier turn on wire.

In both variants the corners are spliced

can anybody clear it up?

ps. I just find the picture which sparky posted
So, K to D there means B to G as in this picture

Just wanted to let you know that the one I installed in my I30 a long time back works with all available factory accessories for the 2005 pathfinder (Ipod and XM radio adapters) as I have just installed both in my car. I also have a PAC AAI-NIS2 aux input adapter and I'm happy to say that it works as well. So now I have 2 aux inputs, a factory Ipod interface, and factory XM all working on my 2005 Pathfinder head unit. I'll be posting pics in a new thread in the Audio and Electronics thread shortly.

Seems like the orange/yellow lit faceplate wouldn't go with the rest of the car? I don't see anyone complaining...I guess it look alright?

-- I'm tempted to look into one...for the MP3/WMA aspect......
I already have the HU from an 2001/2004? pathfiner with 6cd in dash changer....and it's green lit faceplate matches pretty well with the rest!

--also, on cold mornings, mine doesn't like to play cds before the car is warmed up..skips a little. ANy problems with this on yours?

when mine is really hot (like baking in the sun for 7 hours), it plays the cd but no sound comes out.
this lasts about 30 seconds to 60 seconds before kicking back in,.

I just bought one and connected B to M, which worked beautifully. Basically, you have to fee "B" +12V.

The problem with connecting it with the "M" +12v is that that wire is constantly connected to the battery. This means that your amp is always drawing power from your car and draining the battery. That is why you should connect it to "G" in the last pic so that it only turns on when the car is running, or in ACC mode.

Thanks For the thread bump, I read this and bought one on the spot, Cant wait.

I wonder though, has anyone managed to get the speed sensitive volume working?
I am feel more than entised to try it. Would it just need a signal from the vehicle speed sensor? or is it more complicate then that

Its the exact same set up as our stock Bose HU, just 6 cd changer built in and a bit fancier. You'd have to use speaker level inputs on an amp for a sub
