I feel like mine are making a slightly different noise than usual.. I think they're 3 years old..

They're just standard break pads. I can't remember how long they were supposed to last.

like 1,000,000 other things on a car, it depends on how you drive.

from what i hear though, the standard is 30000-40000 miles.

Take your wheels off and look for yourself.

Socrates, just check the pads every so often for wear and how much meat is left. Once it starts to get low, then think about changing them. If you start to hear metal grinding, then time to change to not jack up the caliper (and hope it's not a bad bearing).

Good question. Know brake pads but not break pads.

Take the wheel off and look. General rule is if the amount of pad left is less then the amount of plate the pad is attached to, replace them.

I am getting around 20,000 out of mine. I think I will buy pads from the dealer next time though.

It depends on the density and material of the brake pads. I have had some to last over 40k miles, but the ones I have on there right now are about shot, and I don't even think I have 30k yet.

The easiest way is to just pop off the wheel and look. You can do it with just your lug wrench, and one socket. (I think the socket is either 12mm or 14mm. I cannot remember exactly. You can almost take apart the whole max with just those two sockets....ha ha.) Unbolt the bottom bolt of the part of the caliper that holds the pads. (I say the bottom one so that you can just swing the whole apparatus up on the top bolt that is still in place....but maybe loosen the upper one.) Then, you can see for yourself.

Man, you are doing some serious braking for them to not wear better than that. I thought I drove hard with my max, but wow!
