need help..tranny problems AGAIN!
well i got my maxima tranny replaced in Nov of 06" and it was fine until now..its been slipping at stop lights and slipfrom 2nd to 3rd gear..I recently noticed that the fluid level was high and drained some out..it semms to help alittle so im thinking about draining the rest and adding new fluid along with lucas..
I also noticed that it dont slip at all when cold BUT shifts hard. Im just hoping this wont coat me another $1000 to get fix..
Also the fluid is nice and red with alittle browish tint and smells like atf fluid not burnt..

Shouldn't have any sort of brownish tint.
Might as well do a drain and fill, if you're leaning towards that direction anyway.
My...first trans was like that, hard shifts when cold, and a little slipping when it warmed up. Went from that to basically doing neutral drops at every stoplight, extreme slippage. Just a short anecdotal story.
In any case, it's not that hard to drain and fill, might as well give it a shot.

sorry man, didn't mean to do that. Just wanted to make sure you don't get stranded somewhere months down the line when everything had previously appeared to be ok
FWIW, my trans benefited most from a manual flush (through the tranny cooler line) with mobil1 atf. It wasn't quite to the point of slipping, but I had somewhat harsh shifts form 1-2 and 2-3. I tried a bottle of lucas in it which DID help, but after a couple of months, it just didn't feel as good and the rough shifts started to come back. It had new life after the flush and shifts perfectly now for a car w/ 138k. But if the lucas is working out for you for now, ride it out and keep an eye on it. If performance starts to decline again, you could give the flush a shot. Try to take it easy on the tranny too if you can
