knock sensor

what are the consequences of a bad knock sensor. im getting my car done for inspection but the mechanic said he can turn my CEL with out having to replace my ks but my mom is paying for half of the total cost so is it worth the 250$ to replace the knock sensor or if i dont want can be the bad outcomes of not doing so?

Knock sensor doesn't light the CEL, if you were implying that yours did.

Search, this has been covered many times.

wait wait 500 bucks jus for the knock sensor? dats ridiculous Even 250 is alot. Buy the KS on ebay and then do it yourself. If u cant do it your self ask someone on the org and pay them. If its your o2's that u can change your self.

i say u should change the KS. U get a better throttle response and the car drives much smoother and u get good gas mileage. I got mine changed like 2 weeks ago and luv it.
