why is my 0-60 8.5???

possibly a stupid question but it just seems odd to me.

ok so i know having 2 12's in the back holds you down but i have a fairly light system.

MAF sensor CEL came on when i put in my intake, but i think thats just because of the intake install itself.

i have a custom made short ram with an apexi filter.

lastly...i beat my friends 03 the other day. even after i installed his intake system he kept to my side instead of me getting a bit ahead.

what could be wrong???
MAF?
injectors?
high mileage?
weight?

thats just my thoughts on the issue

no flaming please im sensitive lol

most likely you messed up your MAF. and that is big bad news. im suprised your friend let you install his intake after you messed up yours, lol.
a bad MAF will definately be bad for you car. try to find one used. other than that my only guess is bad driver?

btw if you beat your friends 03 with a 0-60 at 8.5 seconds....he should get his car checked too, or learn to drive.

no id like to think im a decent driver lol....then again doesnt everyone.
his was easy because he just bought a maf adapter and I drilled the holes to fit then slapped on cone filter....simple
no problems or anything.
i was planning on going to pull and pay this week and getting parts so i reckon ill add that to the list.

And yet it's still extra weight, that will hinder your performance.

How about you actually check the MAF out if you're having problems, rather than assuming it's okay?

This would of course be on a track...right?

Are you an automatic? If so, you're only what, ~.5 seconds off from the stock 0-60...any other codes? Done any maintenance to the car at all?

the time for a stock 4th gen maxima on the 0-60mph is:
AUT: 8.3
MAN: 7.4

so if you did 8.5 its just normal with your woofers on and probably with bigger wheels!? Anyways, I think a CEL can make your ecu retard your timing...

trust me........ i was there. i couldnt belive it.
im just going blame driving skill for now and wait for him to get more practice because as we all know this shouldnt happen.

off of that topic though, i will check the maf tomorrow and go to pull and pay and get my parts and see what happens...if anything.

......and buy better performance mods somewhere along the line lol

Traction wise at least. you should have a stop watch on your phone, or if you have an ipod. just in case youd like to figure it out yourself without goin to the strip.

Anyways, yeah this thread makes me laugh. Don't worry about the maf code, you probably had it unplugged at one point when you shouldn't have, sure doesn't sound like you have any maf issues, check the connector, clear the code, and (hopefully) call it a day.
