Help with Emissions Test
Hey,
I just failed my emissions test last week.
I warmed up the car good before taking it in, but I had to wait for another car to leave, for about 20 mins, in which time the car cooled down. It was probably idled for 5-7 minutes before the test was taken. I have an aftermarket ypipe, bpipe and muffler, with stock cat. One of my front oxygen sensors is dead as well. Firstly, I had this exact same setup 2 years ago when I took the test (with dead o2 sensor) and I passed well within the limits. This time around, I failed on Nitrous Oxide which had a limit of 400, and I had 500.
My question is, if I warm up the car really well and take the test immediately, do I have a chance to pass? Otherwise, do I need to change my cat?
Before going, I'm going to change my oil, clean the airfilter and change the spark plugs.
Any help is appreciated.

I failed my first one with high hydrocarbons, I changed the plugs and it passed. I would do what you have planned and go from there. I checked on google and egr valve could be a factor so make sure it is clean too.
wait a minute so for 2 years you've been driving with a bad 02 sensor, yet you expect to pass emissions ?
sounds like your car was warmed up alright, its the dead sensors thats messing up the a/f most likely... why not change it after all this time ?
