Quick Braking / Car no longer starts

I was driving my mom's 95 GLE last night and had to brake quite hard to avoid collision with a deer. (Deer have been causing me lots of problems lately) I didn't hit it, but the engine stalled during my deceleration, and would not start again. Any idea as to what could have caused this. The engine cranks and turns over fine, just does not start. Does the 4th gen have an inertia switch to cut the fuel pump off at quick deceleration, and if so where is it?

Thanks alot,
-Marc

Re: Quick Braking / Car no longer starts
you can try to restart your ECU and see if that works, but I doubt that that's it, it's located to the right of the gas pedal, you take the panel off, and there is a place where you can put a screw

1) turn the thing all the way clockwise untill you hit a stop
2) wait 2 sec
3) turn it counter-clockwise untill you hit a stop
4) wait 2 sec
5) repeat steps 1-3 again

if that doesn't do it then go to a mechanic

Tried to get a check engine code doing that last night. No Success.

There should be any reason why the car doesn't start after hard braking...

Was/is your gas tank virtually empty? You may have starve the pickup... not too likely though...

Good luck!

It sounds like either a vacume hose or sensor came unplugged when you hit the brakes really hard. Check everything over really good and maybe you will get lucky.

Gas tank was half full. I'll be gone all weekend, hope I can figure something out on Sunday when I get back.

HEre's a quess. When you slammed on the brakes, the
fuel pump make have been starved for fuel, and then either the fule line a an air pocket that will get pushed out, or worse case, the fuel pump burned out when it was starved for fuel. I hope it's not the latter - usually the fuel pump sits in a baffled area of the gas tank to avoid this exact problem.

My dad and I took a spark plug out and determined that the car is getting fuel, but no spark. We don't really know what is causing this. We will probabally tow it to a dealer in Green Bay or Appleton on Friday or Saturday, as we will have access to a trailer at that time.

That sucks. Good luck. You seem to have a lot of deer by you.

Yeah, we live in the country. Deer season starts on the 16th. This is the worst time of year.

Towed to dealer
Last night my father and I towed the Max to Gandrud Chevrolet/Nissan in Green Bay. We wern't there long, but in the time we were there the mechanic diagnosed the problem as "no injector pulse". Can anyone elaborate as to what this means?

The fuel injectors get an electronic signal or 'pulse' that tells them when to open and close. I find it odd that that is the problem however... maybe part of the wiring harness tore?

The car runs now. The problem was a loose Crank Position Sensor, not bad, just loose. It wasn't a very expensive repair.
