So what Gen mustangs can we beat?

I keep hearing we can beat mustangs GTs all day... I was like... WUT? I know were quick... and I rip apart hondas from day to day... but I don't think we can take on the Mustang GTs and the 99-04s...or the new ones...

For a min, I was thinking, u mean the V6 mustangs? cause that's possible... but no way we can take the GTs... but they only get like a mid 14... so I guess its possible on a good day or depending on HWY or hole shots. I mean maybe the old ones... but every Maxima fan I talk to says they kill mustangs all the time... Don't they have 260HP? for the 99-04 too?

I could take my friend's old 95 5.0 all day long. It had a few bolt ons, nothing big, and it was just not fast. His new 02 4.6 is a different story. It's bone stock with a BBK CAI and we're pretty even. I raced him from a stoplight 0-70 and he beat me by almost a car length. (mods in sig) The newest Stangs? Good luck. Your run of the mill, daily driver Maxima should not even think about it.

Rule #1: Anything can beat anything. Rule #2: Power is a poor substitute for a good driver.

Also, you said "Maxima Fan." Does that mean actual owner with Maxima knowledge or little Billy Wilkins down the way that got his Max as a gift from his grandma for his first car and is nuts about the car and likes to boost his ego about the car by saying falsehoods? There are a few Maximas on here that I have no doubt in my mind would hand down a fantastic beat to even a new Mustang (and by Mustang, I mean a proper 8-cyl, not a 6-cyl cruiser). But the fact of the matter is there is no replacement for displacement and a properly tuned and modded 'stang is quite a thing of beauty actually.

Also, what type of racing are we talking here? On a tight track or Autox course, my vote goes to the Max. At a drag strip, my vote goes to the Mustang. And on the street, my vote goes to the cop.

Back when I had my Max I remember going up against 94-95 Mustangs GT's (that had the 4.6 liter if I'm not mistaken) and taking them at Palmdale (LACR).

I never ran up against a newer model GT but I would not expect to keep up with them with the basic bolt-ons that I had on my 95 auto.

However, seeing some of the numbers that alot of org members here are running...I wouldn't doubt that they'd give them a good run for their money. Matter of fact, I would like to see the GT owner's faces when they're getting owned by a "grocery getter."

i would say stock for stock, a 4th gen max could beat a 99-older mustang.

94-95 started the body style after the "fox" body, however, it retained the 5.0 until 1996 when ford put the 4.6 in.

that's whats up, and I can't even call you a noob lol

I have raced the new mustang gt, we both took from a relight and got to past 3rd gear and stopped, He had me half a car length and yes I'm shocking that I even kept up. He was even shocked when he saw a grocery getter keeping up with him, and I still can remember his face. I have basic bolt ons with stock y and he was stock.

The problem with mustangs GTs is that sooo many of them will be modded, and in general, they respond very well to mods.

Stock for stock, though... The fox bodies and 94-99 GTs are relatively slow, and could pull low 15s/high 14s in the 1/4 with an average driver, 00-04 they got a good bit faster, capable of low 14s.. and the 05+ are capable of mid 13s.

As mentioned above, though.. you never know what they'll have done. They can be made VERY fast with some simple boltons.

In general, the convertibles will be considerably slower due to higher weight, and the early autos are pretty sluggish. Don't expect to beat a convertible/auto 03/04 cobra though lol

We got rid of the weekend battles section for a reason....

Street racing threads are pointless, stupid and against the rules....

But, IB4TL
