Do you have a ses? I second the exh leak of some sort. Is it loud at all or have a whistle to it?

it's possible that you are preloading the cat now ... and before you weren't. i'll explain .... you went from a stock Y pipe which will only allow so much pressure to be pushed thru ... and now you have more air space, thus allowing more pressure to push thru ... till it hits the cat. replace the cat (possibly clogged too) and see if that helps. i bet it will.

He did just replace the cat. Did you read the message or title at all?

I say exhaust leak as well. Very easy to create one when messing with swapping around exhaust parts. Not to mention a lot of times the gaskets that come with the pipes aren't so great. Warpspeed's aren't usually bad, though.

Screw that. Find a good shop on your area and get one done. Hell get the cattman catback , that would be tons better than pacesetter.

Im telling you from when i had pacesetter. I would never in my life pay for it again. Now im all custom mandrel bent, well worth the extra few dollars. Lets say i payed $200 for 3inch catback on my car.

i saw a dyno where you lose abut 3-5 HP in the 2-2.5k rpm range with a ypipe and cat. you might be feeling that.

since my budget Y was put in 6 weeks ago, i have definetly noticed a slower low end, however my midrange and high end is much much stronger.

plus my gas mileage is worse now. wtf?

That sounds no where near like my 3" exhaust. I'm running 3" from the y-pipe all the way back, all mandrel bent too. I hate the sound...I definately would sacrifice the power gains from it just to have sanity while driving.

^^^^its not always good to fool with MOTHER MAXIMA!!!! the noise was the reason i got the quietest exhaust i could find, i decided to stick with the pacesetter because its quiet and pretty sturdy for the money. thanks to all who replied, its always great to get feedback on something your unsure of so you dont find out the hard way.

i have messed around with both the stock and aftermarket y pipe... low end is MUCH better with stock.. but after 3k it falls on its face where the aftermarket y pipe keeps pulling...

i dunno y somebody cant make a hybrid like the vette has on its mufflers..

these are my and my buddies findings...

pre-cats in the stock y are why it pulls so well off the line, but in the high end its slow as hell. my warpspeed is much better in the 3 to 4k area now and i cant wait to see how the new cattback looks, sounds, and feels after a 200 miles and she breaks in. woot!!

Gas mileage is worse cause u need to give it more gas off the line...

I have a custom catback, altogether with the muffler and everything it cost me about $250. 2.5" crush bent. It helped my low and mid range a bit...

I am looking to make an equal length Y-pipe... hopefully that will eliminate the low end problem while opening up the top end. The pipes may also be oversized, making low end exhaust velocity too slow...
