Help with codes 0201 and 0608!
Help with codes 0201 and 0608!
Just spent several hours under the hood and a few more searching before I posted. Now on to the problem...
My max is shaking and has low idle like similar to bad coil problem. I pulled the codes and know what they mean(Ignition signal circuit and Cylinder #1 misfire). After trying 3 different coils from the junkyard, I switched the coil in cylinder #1 with #3 to make sure coil #1 was bad...To my surprise...cylinder #1 is still misfiring, not cylinder #3 as expected. I know this because after cranking the car, I unplugged #3(with #1coil in it) and the engine spuddered more, telling me that the coil was good the entire time. Then unplugged #1(with working #3coil) and no change in the engine, tell me the problem is not a coil but maybe the harness. Any ideas on how to check the harness? Don't think it's a crankshaft problem either because it did give me the 0608 along with the 0201(best guess) and the car still cranks...though a very hard start. After searching through several post, most of these problems were solved with a new coil. Any help with some other solutions would be very helpful.

OEM coils.
I just went back to the car after resetting the ecu for the third time. I'm still getting the 0201 code along with a 0205 code. I've had the 0205 code resently and have cleaned both throttle body and iac valve. Guess it's back now. But the misfire code(0608) has not shown back up. But I am now having very hard start problems!!! It took forever for my car to turnover! When car is running it's stilling shaking and spuddering as though I have a bad coil. I am for sure not getting anything out of cylinder#1. No change in engine when that cylinder is unplugged.

My car had the same problem. I thought it was a bad coil turn out to a bad fuel injector. Fuel injector replaced car is not spuddering and shaking no more.
Check your fuel injectors.
Check your fuel injectors.

So should I start with the injector for the #1 cylinder? Like I said...I'm for sure not getting anything out of that cylinder. This all started yesterday going to class. I stepped on it a bit and it spuddered then my cel started flashing. don't know to much about injectors or how to test them.
Ok I just found the thread explaining the sound and resistance test. Will a bad injector possibly give me the 0201 and 0608 code? Seems like it would but like I said...I don't know much about injectors. But I feel pretty strong in that it has something to do with cylinder #1. So I will start my injector test with the back row.

Well after getting out the ohm meter...it seems to be a bad injector. No ohms on cylinder 1. But I got 11.5 on cylinders 3 and 5 each. I figure I would just get 6 remanufactured OEM injectors off ebay. $150 for all 6. What do you guys think about that? I plan on doing the work myself along with the help of maximized98.
