I had both my boys in the back seat as well and my wife up front. Luckly we were all ok.

Here is pretty much what happened. i seen these two girls on bikes in the crosswalk and there was a cop sitting in the holiday gas station parking lot. and in minnesota its a state law that you have to stop not yield to ped's. So with a speeding ticket pending already i didnt need anymore tickets so i stopped. and this is the end result. surprisingly it didnt do more damage considering the guy was in a big dodge ram and towing a boat

Luckily there was a cop right there and the wife and kids are okay.

Clearly next time you should run the two bikers over, shoot at the cop and flee.

Obviousley! I mean ... just cause you are married with kids doesn't mean all the excitement has to go away too. Although you did mention a speeding ticket and I am only going to guess that was in your Maxima, so all considered, you might not be so boaring after all. LOL

Sorry for your accident - make sure you get them to cut that whole pannel out and replace it if they don't total the car. (let's hope not)

Now you and Zack342 are twins!

No but seriously, I know exactly how this feels as it happened to me 2 years ago. Except I was in my mom's Explorer and it was my friend who rear ended me going about 30 mph. Glad to hear everyone is ok.

Youch, that sucks. Good thing it wasn't a more serious accident though, a Dodge Ram towing a boat could easily take out a Maxima as if it was punching through a sheet of drywall. O_O

Yikes, I bet that was a nasty situation. I can't quite imagine explaining to parents of a friend of mine that I rear ended their car at 30mph...

my beige Maxima had the similar damage (little less) at the left side when I bought it. Using the hammer, chisel and piece of wood I made the shape of the fender. Ripply but good for the new lamp. Actually not new, $20 from the junk yard. It took just couple hours. One day I put some body filler and paint. It took little longer and still not perfect, but almost invisible from the 10 feet distance.

thanks guys my family really appricates all the comments!

i am lucky though that the dodge did try to avoid hitting me cause if he would of hit me dead on who knows what would of happend.

Zac is parting out correct??? Either which way i will still have a fouth gen. i will make sure of it!! and if i fix this one i deffently want a paint job. since i know my body guy will hook me up. and im sure i will work on some of it myself as i dont know crap about body work and i would deffently love to learn a few things or two

Ouch man, glad you're okay. Hope you stick it to the truck owner. It would serve him right for following so closely with a load.

he turned into you?

it doesnt look like he hit you from the back, more like he was turning left and clipped you with the right side of his bumper

thats what pretty much happened but he was behind me and couldnt swerve past me in time so he clipped my rear. so yes he was trying to avoid hitting me he just clipped me.

what my theory is this. the girls on the bike said that the guy really wasnt tail gating me. and i did tap the brake before i came to the crosswalk and stopped cause i was debating on just going without stopping. but then i saw the cop then i made the stop. so what my theory is that he just wasnt paying attention. it was in the middle of a town with one highway going though and alot of distractions around(there is a huge water tower that is a tea kettle lol). and also im sure he wasnt paying to much attention to the road considering he had a boat. i know what i am thinking when im going fishing. pretty much the same feeling when im about to put a mod on the max

no he wouldnt of hit the girls on the bikes they were just starting to cross. but like i said earlier. in minnesota you have to stop if any ped is in the crosswalk period. granted its never enforced to much but i have been in a car when i guy didnt stop at a crosswalk and got ticketed for it so..... that is why i stopped.

well i got a estimate done by the other guys insurance yesterday. $3845 for everything. so i pretty much knew that this was going to be a total loss. but now i have alot of options to decide. Here are some of them. please feel free to put in some input on it. Like i said before i am going to stick with a 4th gen.

1. total car out, buy it back and fix my current max and maybe a new paint job
2. total car out, buy it back and buy another cheap 4th gen and swap over mods.
3. total car out, take all mods out of the max and buy another 4th gen.
4. total car out, buy it back , sell 00vi and swap in 3.5 and have my body guy do a quick job on the damage.
5. total car out, take out all mods, sell 00vi, swap in 3.5 in new max.

I am leaning more towards using my current max as a parts car since there are all those little things that are wrong with it and i dont really feel like fixing them all. and i would kind of like to start out fresh. but the 3.5 option really sounds tempting.

it all depends on what the insurance company offers me and what not. so this is my brain storming on what i am going to do. the blue book on my max is 3k so i am assuming that is what i am going to have to work with. i am looking at a couple of maxs in the area that are going for 2-2.5k with high mileage. obviously the mileage isnt really going to affect my descision. considering i have a dek just lying around and if i keep my 97 i will have another engine to work with

I recently got rear ended on the freeway, hit and run, $2700+ damage, good thing the driver left an impression of their license plate in my bumper! My insurance company found them so I wasn't out anything.

wow it suks that happened but its good to hear u all r ok
i bet the dodge didnt even have close to the amount of damage but at least parts for a maxima can be found easily and r cheaper than alot of other cars that r out there

well i finally have everything figured out. i had the option of totalling it all out and getting 4k for my car or keep my car and get 3200. so i took the 3200 and kept the 97. but i am going to buy a new max. i actually test drove a 96 today. and it was in pretty good condtion minus rust spots, mileage and the rms was leaking(he was asking 2900 and i couldnt get him below 2600). so i am deffently going to get a new max its just going to be a matter of time.

be on the look out in the classifieds my part-out of the crashed maxima

this is the max i am currently looking at. but honestly i dont want to pay more tahn 2400 for it. considering all the rust, the pushed in rear bumper, and the rms is leaking.

but the interior is clean as hell
