Front end wreck.

I got into a front end collision awhile back. I will need help over a couple weeks, for rebuilding the hole front end. I didnt have insurance t the time, so I'm basicly living off no money right now. All my money that I get (I have no job)goes to the Maxima, ALL.

I recently hd a death in the family, and my grandma left behind some money. Unfortunitly, I might have to spendit all to fix the Maxima.

I'm going to try to hammer out the bends and such. The radiator might be ok, but the front coil part is all bent up(the alluminum part), it kinda cam off the radiator. I looked in between the radiator and the alluminum thing, and the radiator looked fine to me. When I was in the wreck, the rad. cap came off, but I put it back on.
The fan shroud is cracked for sure, but I might be able to salvage one or both fam blades. The rad. isnt leaking any antifreeze, so i figured its ok. I start the car up almost every other day, so the fuel and everthing doesnt mess with the car.

I just got the rad. suport core for $60., from this person at a shop(Not saying).

Thanks for all the help you all might give me.

Heres some recent pictures.;

PS: The engine is ok, it didnt get messe up at all.

new rad....with fan def!! BEST thing i would reccommend is to post in the wanted for sale and see what you can get.
that would be the sure thing to do!!

you might want to pm fanaticrockford and see if he has any parts that can benefit you!!! ,

but from the looks of it that will be alot of heating and banging to get the frame back to where it should be

I dont really like the idea of buying major or heavy parts online, because its going to be alot for shipping. The stupid salvage yards around here dont have any Maxima's 95-99', I told them its a very reliable car, thats why theres none in the salvage yard.

ok i had a front end collision sort of like yours 2 months back.. but i was able to swerve to teh left a bit... so my passenger side light was gone... and radiator support got bent back ALOT...

swap out ur rad support since u bought it already... the metal thing is the AC condensor.
http://search.ebay.com/search/search...fsop=32&fsoo=2
this is a link to ebay showing average to how much the fan assembly and AC condenser is gonna cost ya. just MAKE SURE u do not have a radiator leak... check it over thoroughly when u remove it to install the rad support.
so all u need is:
- new rad support
- new fan assembly - if u cant salvage ur current one
- new headlights + grill

hopefully das it?... good luck man

I understand that...I'm just hoping he wasn't driving without insurance at all.

I just got the car registered, and my sister (which owns the car) didnt get insurance in time. She had alot of stuff to do, I didnt see her for 2 weeks at all.

I didnt have a job at the time, so I couldnt afford paying alot for insurance. So right now, I'm driving one of my sisters cars she has for sale. To me its not a reliable car, because if somebody wants to buy it, I'm outta the car, and I would have to find someway to get to my job(which I dont have at the moment).
Just checked the radiator, its ruined, its actually worse than I thought. It looked straight, but farily bent in the middle..

I'm able to salvage the front bumper, but it will not be the same. My Maxima, went completly under the truck.

Oh man, I can understand the financial situation. But unfortunately I have to give you spiel. If you can't afford to have insurance at all, you have NO business driving. Sounds like you got lucky, but what if you aren't lucky next time? You think having no money sucks now...wait till you hit someone and they go after you for damages. You will totally screw yourself.

It might sound harsh, but back in 1999, I go rear-ended by a guy with no license, no insurance, and worst of all he took off. Luckily I have underinsured coverage...but I still get screwed because the insurance company doesn't want to go to bat for me when they have to pay for something that wasn't even my fault. I ended up with a messed up back ever since. So I have choice words to say to people that don't get it. Even if it's a new car...call your insurance provider before you drive off the lot. It's easy.

I think the OP did not have any collision or comprehensive coverage. He had the basic liability covered insurance. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been allowed to take the vehicle out on the street.

the name i gave you is a salvage/junkyard guy from the forum. HE has a good reputation, and also shipping and price parts are very very reasonable!! right now i would try and get parts, and prices Cause, yes it is hard to find a decent salvagable max in a junkyard.

Now the insurance thing. Honestly being in as many wrecks that i have been in and im sure most of the guys/girls will say almost the same thing. by the looks of it, and your car insurance will dem you as driving to close and thus your payments will pretty much soar up. I would say to have your sis put you under her insurance for the time being if she can handle the strain, until you are financially stable to get it into your name without it costing so much !!

im not feeling like i want to be nice about this, but im going to try. im 43 and have done a few stupid things in my life, but driving around w/o insurance was never 1 of them. damn man, do you realize how much trouble you'd be in if you hit somebody??? especially if they had kids in the car god forbid. i know stuffs expensive with school and all but you gotta be safe man. safe auto would insure your car for minimal coverage and you'd be legal at least. then, you can a job, and not worry about driving around, use your head, and take it easy man. good luck with the max,

hope your radiator works out, if not i'll sell you mine at a good price (i still have it) but i would just go to the junkyard, i got my whole front end for 600 and it included EVERYTHING but the motor, i got the radiator, ac condensor, lines, ps resevoir, fuse boxes, hood fenders, and bumper, it worked out great for me.

No salvage yards around me has a 95-99 maxima at all, didnt you read my post ???

The radiator is not salvagable, it hold anti-freeze, but if I take it out, I'll haved to get a new one.

Is there a way, when the car gets fixed, that I'll be able to change the horn. I'm sorry, but its a gay sounding horn, it sounds like a little geo storm horn(I had a 92 geo storm, so I know what it sounds like).

Read 2 posts above mine...he didn't have insurance yet.

Either way, when you get this car up, don't drive it until it's insured. It doesn't matter if you go two places at any time. Chances are still very good you can get an accident going to those same places.

Try www.car-part.com

it's a database that you can look up by location etc. Good way to find parts you need.

If that's too expensive, you need to park the car and invest in a bus pass.

Seriously.

sigh..dude, i know times are tough, but there will really be no other place for find "cheaper parts" unless you trick you sister into buying another max....stripping it bare while she is sleeping, and haul-as* somewhere she can't find you. but if that happens make sure you have some type of insurance first! Like i said in an earlier post the best thing to do would be to post a thread in the for sale/wanted section, and or check out the regional section and see if there is anyone from your area whole has a salvage car or spare parts lying around.

You'll be fine. I hit a deer doing 80 and had the same damage. Changed the headlights, hood, radiator, condensor, fan, and pulled the support out. Got the car fixed the next day (I had a parts car).

That is expensive for me, why pay that price, when I could save money getting it way cheaper, thats what I've been trying to do.

This is just a joke; My sister and I seen a 95-99 Maxima on the road one day, and I told her, "Lets just steal that car while the guy is at his x-girlfriends house, strip it, then leave it on blocks, so I would have everything off the car." . If one of you were in the same situation, then you would prolly feel the same way. I have bills due, so I'm always on a strick budget. Sure I get a couple $20. here and there, but thats for doing stuff around my block. I got some money from my grandma, after she passed away. But it was only a lil bit, not enough to fix the car.

Edit: Just to let everybody know, I was going 20-25 mph when I hit the truck.

Doesnt the 97-99 have fog lights ?? I have a support core without the fog light brakets.

I would rather keep my front bumper ,till I have enough money to pay to get a new one.

I got the new support on. I couldnt bend the fenders, without making small dents in the fender, so I'ma buy some cheap used ones.
Surrprisingly, the hood latch still works, I just took it apart, and tried to bend it back to place. Its not perfect, but the hood actually closes.

I need a new radiator an condensor, the condensor still had some hheadlight glass in it, large pieces of glass!

I've got a question, is there anyway to get plastic headlights, instead of glass ?? I donbt want plastic, I just want to make a WTB: thread, and dont want anyway to get plastic headlights. The clear part, lol.

Prolly after a couple months getting money , and paying back the money I owe to some people, I might get a hole new sound system. I've allready got a nice cd/mp3 player, with a nice remote control. But I might want some new speakers. Is it hard to remove the Bose amp in the doors ?? What speakers do you recommend for very good quality ?? I dont want the really expensive ones, so just cheap but still good quality ones.

Thanks,
Snowboi.

No, wallmart is cheap, and even though I dont have much money, I will not go to wallmart to pick up stuff for my car !

I dont really need a new bumper, or fenders. I can get 1 left fender for $29. and 1 right fender for iI thin k $29. also, a hood might cost me around $200. maybe less, and I dont need a new bumper, just sand down my bumper, and slap some bondo on it, then its done, basicly.

I haven't gone a day without car insurance since I was 16, even when I didn't own a car. If your driving at all, you should have insurance. I highly doubt your taking the bus or walking everywhere right now

It also sounds like you plan on driving without insurance again, since your 'most important question' answer is that you don't plan on getting in another accident.
