Value of a 95 Maxima

Hello, I'm new to the maxima community and am looking at purchasing a maxima 4th gen. car. There is a private party selling one, and I'm wondering if the price is fair. Here is what I know about it.

95 Maxima GXE (with sports package)
68,000 miles
Auto, air, power win, doors, moonroof, spoiler. Aftermarket rims, it had been in a small accident, but the parts were replaced. Driven by this guy's wife. I think that's about it. It's in great condition. No visible exterior or interior problems. It does need a new timing belt ($300 at dealer, and fuel injector $415 at dealer) They are asking $9,000. I'm in no rush to get a new Maxima, but if it's a great deal, I would get one. Any ideas or comments would be great. Thanks alot.

9K is a lot for 95 year maxima, but 68k miles is sowhat too low for 7 yrs old car. check carfax to make sure to odometer rollback.

My friend bought his 1996 GXE with leather seats and bose for $7350, car had 87k miles.

Try to bargain to at least 7500 or 8000

check here www.kbb.com for the value of the car. You say the cars been in a small accident ... I suggest you check out the history of the car at www.carfax.com
BTW I just bought my 95 Max SE 5spd fully loaded with 76500 miles last week and I paid $7650 and the cars in good condition so I guess 9 grand seems a bit high. Hope this helps

A/C, power windows and door locks were all standard on EVERY Maxima made since 1983. 95+ Maxima's have timing chains by the way.

I think you can get the price down a little but also note that 95 and above maxima's dont have timing belt, They have timing chain which you dont need to change for the life of the car unless there is major damage to it. So try to look into this matter....hope this helps....

what the hell is a sports package on a GXE? I only heard of something like that on 98-99 GXEs? where they came with alloy 15" rims and a spoiler... Never on a 95 though, anyone want to enlighten me?

I wouldn't say it's a great deal. Like the guys above said, this car has a timing chain, not a belt, and it shouldn't need replacing at 68k miles. Also, these cars usually don't have fuel injectors that go bad at that mileage either, but i've heard of a few cases. Plus, the car has been in a minor accident. Six months ago, I got my '95 GXE with 53k miles from a dealer for $9,500 with none of the above problems. I'd say keep looking.
