2 problems: Doors lock when I slam LF door, leaking PS hoses
2 problems: Doors lock when I slam LF door, leaking PS hoses
Hi all:
Been a while since I've been on, but I've got two problems that are kicking my keester royally.
1. For about 3 months now, when I shut the driver's door, about 1 of 10 times the rest of the doors will lock. If the key is in the ignition, they do that little 'try to lock and pop back' action. I have been suspecting something in the switch cluster on that door is bad, triggering the lock action. I'm not sure if it is connected, but twice in the last year, I've opened the driver door (car unlocked, keys in my hand), the alarm will go off.
2. The 2 soft hoses connecting the P/S 'cooler' loop to the hard lines going to the reservoir (sp) started leaking about 2 months ago. I replaced them with new hoses and oem clamps. They were very hard to slide on, but got them on. Within a few minutes of refilling the fluid, after starting the car I saw fresh drops of PS fluid (dex 3) underneath and on the ends of the hoses. I'm not sure where to go with this one, the hose clamps are as tight as I can get them, and approximately cranked down as much as they were originally. Isn't this a low pressure set of lines? They are sure leaking like they aren't.
Any thoughts on either of these would be absolutely awesome.
thank you for reading.

1: my maxima does that too once and a while...don't know why...doesnt really bother me. If I have a key in the ignition I also have one in my pocket. So I've never been locked out...knock on wood
2: I tried to get my ps leak fixed under warranty 3 times and they never did a good job at it. It still leaks at what sounds like the same place as yours. Around the cooler. When I go sc I hope to stop this leak.

on the leak thing , you didnt by chance cut the old line off with a razor did you? i have seen it where someone(sometimes me LOL) will slice the old hose down the length of the nipple and in doing so cut a small grove in the fitting just big enough for fluid to find its way out. usally a little emery paper will fix it.
on the lock thing....mine too. makes you affraid to leave the keys in the car with the windows up!!! i too have a key in my wallet.if you find out anything please post it.
thanks
