weird clunking noises...

I am having this weird clunking noises when I let of at 40 MPH and then when I start giving the car gas again slowly and It would just clunk back and forth. I also noticed the clunking noises when I am putting the car In reverse and then back into drive but I move It into N to get It into other gears and I don't jump from D skipping N then to D. I am thinking It's my axle but again It can be my motor mounts. Is there anyway of knowing If It Is my axle and is there any ways of checking It out. Thanks

Check your motor/transmission mounts. Axles make a clicking noise when you go around a turn...they do not clunk.

The reason I mentioned the axle were because ever since I installed them and I have been hearing the clunking noises and I know that the axles make the clicking noises but not the clunking noises,It was just to narrow down the problem and I also tightened It up and made sure evrything was in place.
