98 boost sensor on 96???

I just got a used boost sensor from a guy on here. Its the one that says Hitachi on it. I have a code about that but before installing it I wanted to double check with ya'll if it will work.

you are right. I guess to clarify why I'm asking this question. its because I saw on the internet that there are different part numbers for 96 and 98 boost sensors

They are different. They have 2 different numbers. They will still plug in the same.

So is it gonna work on my car?

p.s. as you probably know they even look different. the 96 is bigger and says 'boost sensor' on it, and the 98 is smaller and says Hitachi on it

How much is the sensor for the 96? maybe you just want to get one of those... If i was you i would swap in the new one and see if it takes care of you code

Well the sensor is used. Its back home In AR now but I will have it in like 10 days. I don't want to get a new one plus I can't afford it since I'm just a poor student Putting premium in the car is all I can afford right now.

I tried that awhile back and it threw a code, I can't remember if I ever dealt with it though and found a replacement correct style and verified other reasons for the code, I can't remember either if it was a '96 sensor on a '98 or vice versa either.

I sure hope so. It will be too much of a hassle if it doesn't work.
