New 4th Gen Owner
Guys I just got back from picking up my new car. Its a 99 SE Silver with black leather 5 speed. Interior is great besides the steering wheel. Everything else is mint. Exterior I have to do a little work too but not much. I need to replace all of the lights in the front ie headlights, fogs, turn signals, and corners. What do you all think as far as lights? I was thinking smoked/blacked ones. Also I need to get a new front bumper. Anyone have any recommendations as far as a place to get bumpers. Ebay has urethane ones for dirt cheap under $100 but I dont want fitment issues. I drove the car back home an hour and it drove great. A little TLC tomorrow and I will post up some pics. Here is the ad the guy had for it for sale. I paid $2800 for it. 2 owner car...

yea ive heard they have the most problems (immobilizer specifically) and i know the knock sensor is a huge ***** to change on them, but the styling is the best from what ive seen.

good price for a clean looking car. I have a 99 and haven't had any problems on her at all. Its all in how you treat it and how the previous owners maintained it. good luck.

Welcome!
That's a decent amount of miles, so IMO do maintenance first, then mod. Good deal though.
99's have some coil pack problems, and maybe a few others, but it's still less than 10 yrs old, which is more than I can say.

I plan on doing the lights, stillen lips, lowered, wheels, shifter, and just maintaining it and getting the body repairs complete. The shifter feels really sloppy but that is the norm from what I am told. What kind of shifter should I look for?

as stated above coils many be a problem, the knock sensor is a complete ***** to swap out unless your hands are as big as a 2yr olds. Check to see if you have a ghost code for the ks because it doesn't always throw a check engine.

i got a question tho..why do you need to replace all the lights and bumper?? from what i can tell, it looks fine....you should save your money unless you're planning to hook this car up. Right now instead of worrying about the lights (assuming they work), i would worry about changing all the fluids and sparks and such before anything else..

Congrats on your purchase!! You see, good things come to those who wait! Didn't take you that long to find one you like after all.
On a side note, now you need to update your sig.
