Stock Intake ducting loose/not sealed, common? Any good fixes?

My intake has been on and off more times than I can recall.
From the day I got the car it's been somewhat loose, the stupid 'screw in clips' at the main intake snorkel were loose, one missing, now they're both gone; I installed screws so it's secured, but the ducting doesn't line up anymore throughout the system, no matter what I do, so it's obiously not sealing correctly.
I haven't bothered messing with it too much, but I'm thinking about getting to it finally within the next few weeks.

Questions:

1. Have you guys had this same issue, or is it just me? And if so what have you all conjured up to fix it?

2. Am I better messing around to try and fix the stock intake or would my time be better spent installing a 'GOOD' CAI?

3. Or, would anyone suggest just installing different ducting and neglecting the battery vent (or another suggestion).

The only section of the sysem that should be sealed is between the TB and the filter.
Don't worry about the rest, he11 most guys are hacking it up anyway.
Myself included with the resonator box under the battery hacked next to inner fender.
Let it breath baby...

Good to know. My biggest concern was whether it was adversly effecting the velocity, and also wanting to get mostly fresh, cooler air in (not from engine bay)

^ yup,,,, should've found a way to disclude "INTAKE" from the title, wasn't thinking. lol

So gentlemen what are your experiences with the stock ducting?

Please god in heaven I DON'T want to hear anything about aftermarket intake, unless it is simply suggested as a better alternative to taking the time to repair my stock shenanigans.
