Maf sensor? replacement

I think my maf sensor is malfunctioning. my car dies at low speeds and sometimes doesnt want to accelerate. i take off maf sensor hookup the 4 screws on it and pull the 3 wires back and it car runs and works just fine. for a month maybe and then problem comes back, i do the same to Maf and problem is fixed. should i replace it. and is only replacement a stock MAF or can i go with something else?

did you try cleaning it. CRC makes a MAF cleaning spray that I use often.

yes. you just make sure you that from a distance because those wires are way thin and sensitive.

the Maf Sensor is the 3" x 3" x 1" thing thats between your air intake box and the throttle body. It sit's on top of the piping running into the motor

well heres another problem the little black thing sticking out of the MAF on the side had some lose screws so i tightened them in but car still dies on me and i know that its all MAF because i get out of my car and push the connector (that hooks up to the side) Down and car starts running and wont turn off.. Im done with this maf getting another one, im looking at used ones. Is the OEM maf the only maf i can use or can i use a different one?

How did you re attach the 3 wires? I yanked them by accident and it runs like s**t! Dint think it was possible to re attach.
Thanks

cleaning MAF maybe better than replacing

I had a MAF engine code. I bought a "better than OEM" replacement MAF off of ebay. I put in in, reset the codes, and the car ran worse. Stalled right away when I started it, hesitated when I hit the gas.
I cleaned the old one with carb cleaner and tickled the wire with a hobbyist paint brush, put it back in, and reset the engine codes once more. Now it runs perfect. Idles at 800 in park and 600 in drive when warm.

Sometimes i will start the car and let it idle for about a min then it suddenly stalls and i go to try and turn it back on and it will just crank but not turn over to start. So i will wait for about a min and then try agian and it will start up and i can drive, BUT sometimes it will hesitate and the car will bog down so i put it in neutral and the rpms were fluccuating between 600-1000 rpms and if i wait for a moment i can drive it where i need to go with no problem. Im thinking its MAF sensor? I took it off and looked at it but it seems really clean but it could still be bad? Any ideas?
