VLSD vs. non-VLSD axle differences?
I just got through replacing my CV axles, and the car has developed some clunks while stopping hard. Before anyone asks, my method for replacement was by removing the caliper and the the knuckle from the strut. Also, everything was torqued down to proper spec: strut knuckles at 110ft-lbs and axle nuts at 200ft-lbs. Replaced calipers, tightened them down and had an alignment done on Monday.
My concern is that from purchasing from Raxels (GREAT service by the way) is that after the order was complete and I had the axles, the thought crossed my mind that Marty never asked if the car had VLSD or not. Mine does not. When I compared axles, they all looked the same and appeared the same length so I thought nothing of it. But now with the clunks under hard braking, I'm concerned. So, can someone tell me if there are any major noticeable differences between VLSD and non-VLSD axles??
Thanks, NM91
P.S.- This is on my 96 auto.

On the driver side the axle is bigger (spline that goes into transmission) so it wouldn't fit into a open dif. The passenger side wouldn't matter as far as I know. I just purchased a vlsd transmission and ONLY had to change the driver side.

Point blank period...the passenger side doesn't matter...Like I said above...if the driver side were LSD it wouldn't fit as it's bigger than the open diff axle(splines that go into transmission). If you have any questions just PM me I've done my fair amount of research into this already
