So i replaced the rad about a week ago cause mine was leaking. Got a used one and it started leaking also but now the rad is smoking. It's leaking from the left hand side from the corner basically where the plastic meet's the metal. I know, I know i already ordered a NEW rad should be here Monday. My question is when my first rad leaked it didn't smoke but this one is. Just curious to know why it is? Also gonna replace my thermostat, upper and lower rad hose anything else I should do. Car's got 150 on body and about 85k on motor

 

There's nothing wrong mine smoked up a little too before I changed it too.

 

Not sure why there is a difference, but coolant definitely smokes when it gets hot. Take it from me- my upper hose detached from the radiator while driving (twice). The mess it made in the engine bay was annoying and smoked like a mother.

 

yea i spent almost 5 hours cleaning my engine whole nine yards power wash, redid alot of wiring, replaced hoses, clamps etc. Now its just gotta be powerwashed from all the coolant everywhere

 

smoke.. or steam. its nothing to worry about just put the new one on when it gets there. where was the leak on the other one?

 

Definently just a spill, I put too much in once and it over filled, thing smelled like coolant til i did a full detail in the engine bay and the smoke was crazy, not a big deal though.
