I can answer your first question. We don't have an in cabin air filter like the newer cars do.

It's most likely mold growing on the AC parts inside the car after it gets all damp from the A/C. The solution is very easy. Get a can of lysol. Drop all your windows and sunroof. Turn the AC on "outside air". Turn the fan to "high". Empty the can thru the cowl intake (under the wipers). Get in the car and change the fan position settings thru all- defrost, high, low and bilevel. Next, take trip down interstate at high speed with heater on to help speed the smells like a hospital smell from vehicle. Problem solved.

Well, do you want to pay the price for a rebuild and have your car down for a while, or grab a new one and throw it in for cheaper?

Of course, it'd be best to get a new one, have it rebuilt, then swap them once it's done so you have no downtime, but that's all up to you.

If you just got it from the dealer don't they offer some sort of warranty or anything?
