95 Maxima scan tool help

I hate going back and worth to the auto shop to get codes, and try to work the codes out. So what I need, is a scan tool. I found a Mac scan tool on ebay cheap, but I'm not sure it works for my car. I went to auto class awhile ago, and then got kicked out, I dont remember all the stuff from there scan tool, but I'm sure my 95 Maxima is OBD2, is that correct?

What I need to know is, is there a specific scan tool plug or adaptor that I need just for my car? I might end up asking my moms friend that works on my car if he knows where to find a cheap one, that is very nice in options. I might even tryto find a good scan to from a crack****, I know I shouldnt have said that, but if I can get it cheap, and not broken, then I'm fine with it.

Can anybody help me find a affective scan tool somewhere for under $100., trust me, there is scan tools that low.

He has a '96, so it should work fine on your '95.

Oh, I heard the 95 and 96 Maxima models are very different from all the other models, that really sucks. I guess Nissan was drunk when they though it would be best.

The only thing thats different is the front and rear. Otherwise they're exactly the same. Where did you get that from?

Very wrong. Oh and in your sig you can put "Buying 2 4th gen fenders", as they are all the same.

I understand. He lives in FL as well, maybe you guys can meet up or whatever. And for the stuff that you want and what your trying to sell, you can make threads just for that stuff rather then having it only in your sig. You might get more responses that way.

He's pming me now. I know how to do stuff, like b/s/t I know what it all means, I just dont like to make small threads for small things, and end up making a bunch of worthless threads.

Ok good I knew he'd get to it sooner or later. Anyway, you can put the stuff you want into 1 thread and what your selling into another. It's not worthless when you need parts and want to sell something. People sell single things all the time, not just when they have a huge array of items. I had all my things FS in separate threads, then I decided I might as well put them into 1 thread.

Just to reiterate, yes, your '95 is OBD-II. Don't let anyone tell you different. Parts stores will say it isn't as soon as they hear '1995', but you know how it goes with the typical auto parts store employee...

absolutely right wat u said about as soon as they hear 1995, i once went to autozone and they guy denied to check my code even though my car is a 96, he said oh that car was probably made in 95 so its not obd-ii, than i had him follow me and i had to prove to him it in fact is a obd-ii.

When I picked up a 95 Max Se 10 months ago I tried using a Actron plugged into the OBDII plug by the glovebox and couldn't get it to work, so I just ended up counting the flashes. Really easy.
BTW...this is a great forum for a good car.

if you're still looking for one i have a "consult/conzult" cable with software. it's not pretty but will give you info on codes, ability to erase and readouts from ALL the sensors (o2's show if running rich etc). on mine it didn't work while the car was running and idk if it was because of my ecu or the cable/board is not compatible with it. if you pay for shipping to and back from you i'll let you use it and i'll find out if it works on your car while running (for data logging).

As a general note, if you find people who work at a dealership now, most of them don't know anything about the mid-90s cars. This goes triple for parts guys.

Which plug did they go for? See my sig pic.
