What is a better look?

I'm trying to decide what is a better look for the 4th gen

Chrome exterior door handles?

or

Matched car color exterior door handles?

i think the SE are matched color and the GXE had chrome handles but i could be wrong

I'm trying to decide between the exterior door handles i have on now or throw on the set i have with a chrome door handle.. Both are black in color

I'm into the chrome door handles. Because without the chrome, the side of the car would look, well, kinda plain.

Color matched all the way! The chrome stands out too much in my opinion.

Well like you, I have that polished lip around my 18's, and I think it sets of the chrome handles quite nicely. But since you're rocking the low profile "policemax" look, I might stick with the black...

Color matched will go better with your low-key undercover cop theme. I personally like chrome better cause it goes with the theme of my '96.

Chrome is way tackier looking on any car. Hence the reason people who care about the appearance of their cars have been dechroming (now it's called debadging) their exteriors for decades.

Ever notice how the classier looking cars always have the chrome strips around the windows removed as well?

honestly man, these kinds of posts are stupid in my opinion. You are asking for our opinion for an aesthetic modification, What I like may not match what you like may not match what Joe Blow in Kansas likes. Like I said, that is my opinion.

To get back on track, color matched looks WAY better.

It's your car and you're the one that has to see it every day so its for you to decide. I personally like the matched color better.

i think you should stick with opinion rather than trying to state a fact that is completely untrue.

chrome works very well on many vehicles. monochromatic is usually found on sports/"sport edition" cars.

people have been adding chrome just as long as they have been removing it. it's all about flow and working within a theme. for you to imply that people who rock chrome do not care about the appearance of their car is very arrogant. different strokes for different folks.

seeing as the poll is 19-2 so far... i'd go w/the colored handles. IMO chrome (in the wrong spot) can ruin the look of a car.

ie. 6th gen maxima big silver tooth in the front bumper... or in this case... door handles!

OP, if your sig is still how your car looks, you have (from what i can tell) NO CHROME on your car whatsoever. imho, to justify chrome handles, you need to also get the grill, probably some rims, window trim, fender trim, possibly lose the spoiler. GXE and GLE had the chrome package, SE had the paint matched package. I think you made a good decision by going with the SE, because you represent maxima's 4DSC title. If you wanted to represent nissan luxury, i would recommend you get an I30.

just my .02

Mine used to be chrome but then I had mine color matched for a sportier look. Now I regret it since I've been starting to see the VIP potential of 4th gens. Anyway, if I were in your situation I'd keep the handles black and also black out the chrome trim around the windows. If I saw a 4th gen with only one of the two blacked out or color matched, I'd think it's weird...but that's just me. Anyway, this is my first post on the Maxima.org...hello all.

I know I said chrome, but I was just now thinking, it would look good for some colors, but not all. I still say chrome, but only with the right color.

I think it depends on the color of the car, wheels on the car, etc. For some cars, the chrome door handles look good, but in most cases I'd have to say color-matched. I hate chrome window trim on 95% of modern cars (mid 80s and newer), which is why I blacked out the trim on my 300ZX...well, that and the fact that I'm trying to make it look more like a turbo since it is a turbo now
