aligning sturt bolts

Long story short, I asked a shop to change axle, they left lug nuts loose and I end up stipping 3 lug studs. My cousin took over the job of changing studs and to some reason he removed lower sturt bolt. Now lower sturt and stud mount are not aligning completely.
The original bolt that came out of it has 6 marked on it, now we have put in a harbor frieght 3/8mm bolt in it.

Question on forum is there any trick to align sturt holes with hub holes?
is it safe to drive with 1 regular bolt and 1 HF 3/8 bolt?

I have tokiko blues and car is lowered 2"

There's no trick at all, really. You should just be able to push the knuckle inwards until the strut and knuckle line up to push the bolt through. Did you try loosening the top bolt? If you can't push the hub inwards to get them lined up, the outer CV joint could be popped apart, but then you'd likely have a noise or wouldn't be able to drive it around at all.

It'll likely be fine as is but personally I wouldn't recommend driving around with a 'fix' like that. It's not about the size of the bolt, but more so the grade of the bolt.

Thanks Pmohr.
I didn't touch top nuts as strut hole is slightly below knuckle's hole. I am not sure if loosing top nuts will help. If anything I need to push strut just little bit (1.5mm) up.

Not the nuts on the top of the strut, loosen the top strut-knuckle bolt to allow for movement (otherwise, it'll all be rigid).

You can try jacking up from the bottom of the LCA and playing with strut-knuckle alignment at the same time, I've had to do that before.

It may be easier for you to remove both bolts, get the bottom one in first then do the top. It's a lot easier for me to have the bottom already in place, then just push and pull the knuckle around until the holes line up properly.

Thanks again
Top strut knucle bolt is completely loose, I will try to remove it completely and put in lower bolt first.

Need to jack both sides (passenger & driver) up equally then insert bolts, otherwise the stabilizer bar will work against you. Or you can jack up the LCA to put a normal load on the suspension.

That sounds like he's got a 5th gen strut on a 4th gen. The holes are just slightly wider apart then the 4th gen hub.

Who did the suspension install?

Or disconnect the one side sway bar to completely free up the LCA. I always put a little helper jack under the LCA to help raise it up.
