Question about Check Engine light.

Hello,

On my 99 Maxima GXE I recently got Check Engine light and went to service to get it checked out, turns out they got two error codes from this:

1. O2 sensor
2. #5 ignition coil is generating miss-fire.

Question I have, I know that O2 sensor causes Check Engine light to come on, but does failed ignition coil cause Check Engine light as well?

Thanks a lot

What exactly is the code? P0305? That code just points to a cylinder misfire, not specifically the coil.

But yes, every DTC other than 0304/P0325 will light the CEL.

FWIW you can check the codes yourself for free quite easily, so I hope you didn't pay them to check the codes for you.
