Looooong 1st gear

1995 GLE (265000 kms) w/ 1997 auto tranny put in recently.

Heya All,
Before I start, i've read and read and read, but my problem seems to be different...
When I ist start my car in the morning, and leave, it takes alot longer than it should to change from 1st to second. It happend like 2 or 3 times, then when it warms up it shifts fine. It's really weird. I have a VSS code in the ECM and TCM.
I also have an EGR Solenoid code that doesn't have anything to do with this problem.
Would the VSS code cause this? Also, i've heard that if your cruise control works, then more than likely your VSS is fine?? Mine works fine. So whats up? Any ideas?
Thanks
The .org kicks a$$

VSS could be an issue, but it probably wouldn't come up as temp related.

What's the condition and age of the trans fluid? Type? It'll be thicker when cold, will cause different shifting behavior.

My first car, a 1990 Q45, would shift verrry slowly when it was cold. It would take about 2 or 3 seconds to change gears. Smoothly, yes, but very slow. Once it was warmed up all was well though...

ok i'll leave it alone...but i just put on a CAI...no vaccum leaks...and now i got a pile of codes...
Revolution sensor..
Closed Loop Circuit...(never heard of it)
EGR Solenoid...
Front Right heated O2 Sensor...
A/T Control Unit

I feel like beating the $hit out of it

Well you can probably get it to act a bit better by replacing the trans fluid.

Are you sure you don't have any post-MAF air leaks? That can cause some of your codes.

My fluid is pretty new..i only had a tranny swap like a month ago.
I didn't see any leaks. The vaccum hose from the intake resinator is on tight. No air leaks coming from the intake system. I miight just take the CAI off. I figured this would happen....

I also got the Revolution Sensor code. That may be whats causing the loooong 1st gear.

As for the Closed Loop Control and the Front Right Heated O2 Sensor, I\i'll look at that tonight. I think thats the O2 sensors in the y-pipe. Corect me if I am wrong.

Correct, it's the rear upstream O2. A post-MAF air leak could cause both of those codes.

As far as the revolution sensor, unlikely it'd cause the slow gear change, as it also shouldn't be temperature dependant at all.

I think if i dissconnect my CAI tonight, and look at the 2 O2 sensors i mgith find something. While I have my intake system off, i'll inspect the VSS/Revolution Sensor

EDIT

Found a male plug unplugged and couldn't find the female side of it anywhere...looked down by the axel and there it was. I assume it was the VSS? Correct me if I am wrong. I'd like toknow. But anyways, the looooong 1st gear wqent away, and so did a couple of other codes i think...just had a 20 min run, so i'll check the codes again at lunch(about 3 hours.)
