Q/A will a 4th gen 97 vq30de fit & work in a 5th gen I30 2000-2003

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MY QUESTION is will a 97 VQ30DE maxima auto motor & tranny fit into a 2000-2003 automatic 5th gen infiniti I30. and any info on what problems will arise with the swap. mounts or electrical issues.

MY OTHER QUESTION is will my 97 4th gen max door panels fit on a 2000-2003 infiniti I30 they look the same on the edges . I appreciate any info or link to an already discussed thread. I'm wanting motor & tranny swap from a 97 max to a 2000-2003 infiniti I30 and seats & door panels. THANKS

The i30 only went up to '01, same as the A33 Maxima. Yes, the engine will bolt up, but you'll be losing the 00VI, so it's a step down. The injectors won't be plug and play. Neither will the engine harness, etc.

Doors, doubtful. Very doubtful.

Why would you? As I said, you're downgrading by losing the 00VI on the newer motor.

But everything else should work just fine, short of missing/different emissions equipment and the injector wiring. You're better off just sticking with the DE-K.

Again, it'll bolt directly in. If you're using the A33 harness, you'll need new clips for the injectors, and likely need to lengthen parts of the harness to reach the A32 equipment (IACV, etc). You'll also need to swap the IACV connector to work with yours. Also the auto trans connectors are different, IIRC.

If you're going to swap in yours, I'd highly suggest putting the 00VI on it.

AEM, eh? What are you using for an engine harness? I know the AEM will work for the VQ35, but I doubt there's VQ30 support.

I understand your question, your motor is built and all(I saw the for sale thread), so yes everything should bolt right up for a simple answer.

-yes the motors should just fit right in like legos, as far as the door panels that would be a negative, uness your willing to do some serious modifications which wont come out too pretty unless your good at it. i have already tried this.

You should see some of these Z33 guys...

There's an Altima up where I used to work that's got an SFR kit with a huge turbo, and the 4.2l stroker kit. More than $15k in to that car...

I understand it can be done ... my question really here is why build a FWD car, why not a RWD or AWD? Not to mention, our A32's aren't really even in the same leauge as the 'Z' guys. (although, I guess it depends on who you ask really ... lol)

One word...Jime

But really, the Maxima is inexpensive, relatively easy to mod, can make great power, has an awesome motor, has decent interior space, comfy, all of the little amenities I could want...and available in a 5MT. Perfect, IMO.

The 00VI should fit right on the '97 VQ30, with only a few extra parts. Definitely swap it out if you don't already have it (although I have a hard time seeing how you can spend $15,000 on the engine and not do an 00VI swap - 20-30hp increase for $500-600 usually... best bang-for-the-buck engine mod)

Just swap an 00vi on it and its direct drop in and plug and play like stated before. Then have fun.
