Finally dropped...Total Failure.!!!

Hey guys, so today i got the car dropped with the help of a friend, but the ride is totally horrible. The parts were Illumina and s-techs and i used everything that came in the boxes along with the needed parts from the stock setup.

The problem so far is in the rear, the ride is very bouncy with lots of different sounds coming from the back when going through bumpy roads and from even going in and out of my garage. Its as if im riding on springs alone or i have a blown strut, and neither of those are true. Along with the bounce is a slight saddle from left to right in the rear of the car after coming out of a bump/sink in pavement.

At the moment, i have absolutely no clue whats happening. The job was done according to the instructions from Tokico and as i said before all parts were used up. I made a video from in the trunk of what goes on when the car is manually pumped up and down. Along with the video are two pictures i took of the strut mount in the trunk(See red arrow drawn),hoping that these will kind of explain more to you guys of what exactly is happening and if anyone has experience this with their cars.

Youre missing something. did the strut have the metal piece the bump stop rests on? It goes oem bump stop/boot, metal cup washer, star bushing, upper mount, bushing, washer, nut.

Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa Whoa......

Something is not right at all bro. I dont know if not having the bumpstops there would cause that, but i'd go get 2 from an autoparts store just incase.

Take out the rear setup and disasemble it then re-asemble it. Make a checklist of each step. There should be a suspension diagram somewhere. Something is either upside down, in the wrong order, or just not there at all.

Yea I had the same problem lol. I couldn't get off the old ones so I didn't use them because a friend said I didn't need to. Sadly I would hear some bad noises on bumps. I ordered new ones from the dealer and got them installed asap.

You definately need number 7, you can actually see on the top where the bushing, #8 was resting on it, its the only clean section.
Buy a new number 2 if you havent already. The one pictured is ruined.
Also, what you have pictured as one, isnt. Number one is actually a metal washer that sits below the nut and an top of the bushing, number 2.
All those other pieces appear to be the remains of the boot and bumpstop.

1,3,4,5,6 are all part of the bellow aka bump stop and boot.

8 and 2 should come with new Tokicos.

You need to reuse 7, thats where you went wrong. It holds the shaft in place with the mount.

Id stick 6 back on trimmed since you are lowered. Its already pretty much trimmed for you.

wrong, 1 is the top of the boot, the metal washer you are implying is not shown.

I was refering to the #1 shown in the actual diagram of the suspension setup from the link posted earlier, not the pic with torn up pieces.

If the Tokicos come with new bushings thats awesome, out of all the struts Ive purchased none have come with anything but the nut on the top of the piston.

All went well guys. Yep number 7's and 1's did the trick. I have spent enough on this drop and only wanted it to go well and last me. So question.....what does new bumpstops change for me at the moment.? I wanna make sure all is well under there before going for an alignment(another load of hustling).

bumpstops are for when your car bottoms out which it will since you are using oem length struts and tein s tech springs which are too low like j sutter says the only struts you should use with s techs are shortened konis

Old crappy ones are fine....I used them on my Accord when I installed the Toicko's....The shocks has a label that tells you to use the used OEM parts...You'll be fine.

i'd say take it apart and try it again, the boots missing would not cause what you are describing, give a try again, see if everything matches up this time.
