question about swapping engine.

k. i have a 97 maxima, and recently i have had a laundry list of replacements and repairs. as it stands now, the engine in my vehicle just turned 181,000. i was considering swapping out the engine mainly since it would be cheaper to put a low mileage engine in my car than to do all of the repairs to the one that is currently in the car. i was looking around online and saw one on ebay. my only concern about it is that they are calling it a VQ25DE engine. i have never heard of this before and it looks like all this MEVI stuff that i have been hearing all about. my question is that will this engine go right where my other one went with no problems? mainly what i am getting at is will it work, will it not, will i have to add other things(tubing, piping, sensors) to make this engine work? here is the engine. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-98...ht_5114wt_1836

Why would you put a VQ25 in? Unlike a 240, we actually swap up in displacement.

Just get a VQ35 and call it a day.

just call up your neighborhood junkyard, find a vq30de/k for ~$500, maybe less, then call it a day.

Would it work? Probably
Should you do it? No

This acutally got me thinking whether anyone has tried a smaller displacement Nissan engine in our max's.
Something like the RB's? Obiously an SR would be a foolish swap, but I have to admit I'm curious how an RB would turn out, it would no doubt be a very custom job.
Anyone seen one done?

Don't hate on me for askin, curiosity plain and simle.

Unless you're going RWD/AWD, there's no way you're going to fit an RB in the A32 chassis. FWD transverse mounted I6? Then with the massive weight difference with the iron block, the front end would be sagging like hell.

I can see swapping in a VQ25 to be unique, and see what kind of power can be made from it (though a VQ25HR/DET/DD would be my choice). Personally I would find it quite interesting.

People have swapped out to SRs in the Z33 before, with decent results. Still way too much fab time and cost IMO, though. An SR A32 would certainly be...one of a kind.

Obiously it would have to be a RWD conv, like I said, would definately be a custom job. It's been done in the A31's but they're already a RWD platform, and altogether different from our A32's

I'm not saying that it'd be worth it, but that has never stopped anyone before!

I've started my search, but I am coming up with nothing so far.
