SE-L question

I am looking at getting a 97 maxima and what I believe is a SE-L. It has the SE-L badges, gold trim, bose, all the options, the wheels even looks tinted a bit. From what I could find when I searched it says that SE-L was only 99. Is this 100% true or were there a few from other years?

SE-L does not come with gold trim. It comes with titanium trim. Stay away from that 97 Maxima.

its a good car, this is a co workers car that has been taken care of, always garaged and very well maintained. 97 maxima SE, every option, 106k miles for $2500. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Just needs a 00vi and it'll be all set.
Was the gold trim an option on the SE?

As far as I know, the SE-L was only made in 1999, but maybe someone put those badges on it as some point?

The gold trims was an option on all models....but it wasnt cheap.

i have a 99 SEL, the badges are titanium on the sides, the floor mats say SEL. That's about it, no leather, no Bose, no sunroof, no power seats. Auto trans, Sterling mist color. The Leroy package is an option on that car, if you wanted it. More $$$. If you know the guy get it. Any mods?

Take some pictures of it for us. If it's a '97, there's no way it's actually an SE-L, though. Funny that it has some SE-L exclusive items, though Tell you what...you buy it, then you can trade me the titanium wheels and badges for my regular ones. That way no one will think you're a poseur

Maybe the seller has it wrong and it's actually a 1999

Did you check the VIN or registration?

No.

And a 2 wheel burnout wouldn't confirm or deny either limited slip or open diff.

okay got the story at work today, he said he made it an SE-Limited. He got the badges, floor mats, etc. and had the emblems painted gold, something about they used electricity to make the paint stick to them. It looks amazing and I wil have to get some pics
Beautiful rosewood paint but plain *** black interior. Anybody know of any dash kits that are a fairly close match to the factory woodgrain color? I would really like that texture but it a grey color....like the older yukon denalis had.

Ah, to make a Type-R Integra with a badge...

He likely meant that he got the emblems powdercoated/electroplated/whatever. Only problem is, they're plastic...I don't believe that wouldn't work.

You can get woodgrain dash kits, but all you're going to find are the stick on type, which are crap.

ya maybe electroplated, not sure but I know it looks sweet. I know I can only get dash kits but somebody has to have came across a good dash kit that wont peel and is at least kinda close to the stock appearence.

I've got a 95 and 96 SE with the "gold package" that includes gold/ wheel center caps, gold/ door keyhole insets, gold/ base ring on the antenna housing as well as the "MAXIMA" and Nissan-burger emblems...isn't all this the correct/entire "gold package" from the factory?

Yes, you can get the trim level from the car's information (found through the VIN). No need to work at a dealership, I can pull the information as can a few other people on this board.

The only year to have the SE-L option was '99, as has been said.

I definetley could but why would I when I can come home and talk to the real experts on these cars and get all the information I need and more? You go to a dealership and everybody knows abit about alot of models. This is a maxima forum, where are you gonna get better information than here?

Rosewood Dash match up

I'm pretty happy with mine, it's actually a mahogany color, very dark, held up well so far in my '98 Rosewood SE. PM me if you want to know what brand.

Dealers installed lots of aftermarket "gold" kits in the 90's, especially Lexus and MBZ vehicles. It cost them about $100 for a guy to come out and do it, and they charged $495 for it.

On a 1994 Infinity J30 I had, most of the "gold" had worn off the emblems, badges and antenna base.
