'95 Automagic rattle 1st gear

Ok for about two weeks Ive been driving my wifes '95 and I had been hearing this rattling sound kinda like a rock bouncing around in a tin can.The noise is coming from the front driver side.I originally thought it was the tire so I had it checked out.The tire and wheel were in perfect shape and the guy took the time to drive it to hear for himself. He told me it was the tranny.I notice the noise @ low speed driving through parking lots and such and It only happens in first gear. The car shifts normally and the messed up thing is its been rebuilt and the 12mo/12k mile warranty just ran out.what could this be? any solutions?? and what am I looking at as far as labor and repair?

It could be a few things I guess... take it to a tranny shop, one that gives free inspections/estimates. That's your best bet right now. Sounds like something went bad after rebuild..?

Makes sense with it being located near/in the tranny, and happening in only 1st gear.

I hear a similar noise once in a while but I think it's a heatshield rattling.
