New CAI is in, got a question

i had my mechanic instal the PR cai today. it went pretty smooth but the hole he cut was a little off so the fitler is up against the fender wall. when i accelerate now i hear a whislting sound at low end. is that common? but once i hit 3500 rpm i feel alot of extra power. what is annoying me is that whistling sound.

thanks in advanced.

I usually have music on, but I hardly hear any whistling sound. I may on occassion, but with any kind of music on, I don't hear anything.

There should be no whistling sound, unless what you are describing is the actual sound of the CAI. it should sound more like a growl than a whistle. I dont think rubbing against the fender causes it, cause mine touches as well. All i can say is make sure the filter is on tight, and make sure theres nothing wrong with the filter itself.

yes a little whistle at the lowend is normal. Probably design of piping...
growls from mid-high.

low level whistling noise is normal. As for the filter rubbing against the wheel-well/fender, it is hard to avoid it completely. Depends more on how the pipe is inserted in the hole and at what angle. Given that the hole is made by using the template, it is pretty damn hard to mess that up unless you aren't using a hole drill!

Just try to enjoy the CAI. You sound like me. I am very suspicious of any work that gets done to my car and think the worst... I hate bringing my car in to have anything done...
