What a $1000 got me

I bought this car off Richard aka ThisMaxisTight on the org. For $1,000.00 I was aware of the issues it had, the interior needed work, wasnt sure if it blew cold air, it was a parts car put together. All I can say, it hauls a$$ for an auto. (Perfect track car) It already has Cattman headers, rims, complete paint job, 97 front end, lowered, and of course the 3.5, and I'm pretty sure I can get a few more HP getting rid of the stock exhaust and doing a complete full exhaust. I have a few mods already waiting (phantom grip, S1 Cams, etc) I'm more focused on performance before I work on the exterior. Heck I even liked the rims (they'll be powder coated black thou), the interior does need major work, and the tan color doesnt fit my taste. But I figured I'd do a black/tan interior and pick up parts from other org members.

Question: Steering wheel is crooked somewhat... in other words when going striaght, the steering wheel is turned as thou if I was taking a big turn. (I have to hold it sideways to drive straight) how can I go about taking care of this?

Did you have a question, or was there another reason you didn't post this in the Member's Rides section?

LOL, mybad I totally forgot about asking a question.. mybad
You know the worldest fastest maxima is a AUTO right? Just need the suprastick and a torque converter...
As far as how does it run... it seems alot faster than any auto i've driven with mods. The car will be stripped down eventually.

nice pick up but i wouldn't really call a max a "perfect track car", esp an auto

Hopefully, with cams, headers, e-cutout, intake, "lsd", slicks, and a good tune... I'm striving for mid 13's or lower, we have a nitrous setup on the side that we'll us after a few add ons and that should put us (fingercrossed) in the low 12's. And for the summer the car will be turbocharged with built motor and built auto tranny.

*holy **** ^^*

I would say ef the rear interior to lighten the car up just add a good coat of paint, then you could probably sell those 2 front seats for a good price and spend a couple hundred extra on some race seats and make it a full track car.

but that's just me.

that's a dammm good deal on that car though gl!

Get a quick release steering wheel, completely gut the interior, get new bucket, and put a subframe and a cage in it to make it more of a track car.

the steering wheel could be put on wrong/crooked. I would make sure that the wheels are straight and then remove the steering wheel. failing that... wheel alignment.

Oh joy, another auto vs manual thread

FWIW, Jime ran way faster than that turbo car, with just nitrous. 10.35, I believe?

Congrats on the purchase on your 3.5 swaped max, having most of the perfomance mod and the 12 sec car is not a bad choice after all. If I was the original owner I would of have sell It for 4-5 g's but you just got lucky and I hope you will break in lower than 12's.

Why cant people just accept that a fast car is a fast car. No matter what trannsmission, engine, or chassis it is.

a manual car with mph an auto car no doubt about it. But if you want a car for the dragstrip you get an automatic car. Easier to launch and to cut better 60 foots it also makes no mistakes from driver error, a good example:

my automatic camaro runs 12.37 @ 108 with full bolt ons, i cut a 1.7 60 foot

my friends 6spd camaro ran a 13.1 @ 110 with full bolt ons with a 2.1 60 foot

This car puts my first 95 auto with every mod to shame... and let alone my old 96 5spd is fast, but not fast enough. The car will be getting tint this weekend, I'm gonna keep it gutted, but i'd prefer no one be able to see into the back seat. I'm thinking of getting the stillen kit (never got a lip kit for the other cars) and redoing the brakes with z32 calipers and slotted rotors.

I'll keep everyone posted on the progress of this car...

Thanks
