You can ohm the rear injectors without pulling the UIM, but you'll have to do all 3 and compare, not look for an absolute value.

Take a look in EC, the pinout is in there. |
ATT----------
Can you clear this up for me? I am about to order the Valve ASSY-Slenoid that you sent me a link to. Before I do so I wanted to ask you something. Is it attached to the EGR? I was thinking if it's actually attached to it when you order a new EGR then perhaps I should get the whole assembly for the extra money. This way it's new and next month I don't throw another code requiring me to replace the whole thing any way. If it is not attached to it or does not come with it when ordering the EGR itself and it's infact seperate then I will just order the part that you gave me the link for. Thanks for clearing this up. |
The EGR control solenoid valve and the EGR valve are completely different parts - one can fail while the other is just fine. A 1004 code indicates a problem with the EGR solenoid valve/circuit. So if you order the EGR control solenoid valve ONLY, you should be OK. You will get that part only, they will not send you an EGR valve too. Or if they do, you will have gotten a great deal.
Edit: A 1005 code, not 1004. My mistake. |
Thanks ATT for clearing that up.
BTW I am throwing a 10 05 not a 10 04. Did you just happen to hit the 4 instad of the 5? :) I am going to order this part when I get a break. I read in the EC part of the manual (page 180 on) that the EGR Solenoid is one of many parts to check when you have a cyl misfire. I am hoping by replacing this part is clears my other code. |
Ordered the part. Let's hope I can install it late this weekend and it solves my issues. any good how to's on installing this piece?

Should just be a single 10mm head nut and 3 vac lines. |

It took me a good half hour of making failed attempts with a regular wrench and a socket wrench, then a trip to the hardware store for the flex head wrench, then another 30 minutes to actually do it. I'm an engineer, so not so good with hand tools. ;) |
Thanks. Once I get the part in I will have to go to lowes so I can make the job easier. Plus I get a 10% military discount, all the more reason to go. I will post back once I replace it.
