They are just summer tires and are not intended for winter use

I have the Kumhos and I think they are great. Much better than my old Dunlop SP5000's. So far, great traction in both dry and wet weather.

I've got them (235/45/17) and they're great. Best tire for the money.

Yea, very good tires. Traction is really good and the ride is nice and quiet. I have them in 245/40/18's.

I have them, stock size, 215/55/R16. Great wet and dry, horrible in snow - I slid off the road at 3mph on 1 1/2 inches last year. Luckily they gripped the gravel on the shoulder. But better than the stock goodyears' in any conditions.

If you try to drive on Kumhos in snow you will die.

do 245/40/18 fit perfectly? is the speedometer messed up much? maybe one day i'd like to fit the widest tire possible.

Yup, they fit perfectly and the speedometer being off isn't really noticeable and the tires do soak up a lot more of the bumps in the road than 235/40/18's.

poopy

My rims came with the Kumho ecsta 23/45/17's
At first I thought they were nice, then I bought Potenza re740's.
The kumhos, have terrible traction, all year round (but better than stock). They do have good lateral traction, but accelerating traction, I have to do launches 500rpms slower in the kumhos as I do in the Bridgestones.

There not good in the snow, but don't you think that a little harsh? ;-)

I've driven in the snow with them. Avoid it at all costs!

Go get them 245/40 18 son. You wont regret it. Tire size has nothing to do with your internals getting broken. Like ben said it will absorb some of those nasty bumps for ya. Hell you can fit up to 255 in the rear "ONLY" someone here has that on their 4th gen max. Do some search on it and youll see what I am talking about.

I dorve my mom's 2K with them on the stokc 16's and I think they are fine in the wet and the dry. . . They have plenty of grip and I owuld trust them to perform well in those conditions, although every review I have read says to never use these in the snow. . . Since my mom live in a part of Cali where it never snows they are fine. . . And if she needs to goto the snow for any reason, I can hook her up with a rental.

Just a side note, never buy Falkens. . . They suck, I have 235/45/17 Zions on my car (As they were the cheapest at the time I bought rims and I was low on money). Anyway, they have no traction in rain whatsoever. . . I can't get the car moving in 1st gear when it is wet because they refuse to hook up. Starting the car in 2nd gear all the time is just plain annoying.

Are they any better than the Sumitomo HTRZIIs? Has anyone ever tried both? Which one is quieter? Thanks.

Re: Kumho Tires, do you have them? do you like them?

I have Kumho's on my 96 SE mounted on 17" MOMO Arrow's.
- 235/45ZR17 KUMHO ECSTA SUPRA 712

They are the BEST value for the $. The performance is comperable to the Yokahama AVS Intermediates I had and just a hair less sticky than the Firestone Firehaw'k SZ 50's I had last season.

The wore about the same as other tires and road noice was similar too.

Overall, good tire, great price. Not meant for snow! Does better in rain than my 2 other aforementioned tire sets.

so what tires would be best for snow, but also include that performance touch?

none really. very different sizes and treads for very different conditions.

best setup is to have your go-fast tires mounted on 17" rims for the nice months and use your stock rims for a badass set of snow tires.

my personal favorites are nokia hakkapalita's. very nordic, very aggressive, long tread life and slice through snow. i run 185/65/15 on my winter set. car will run through 8 inches of powder uphill or wherever. i stop when the snow gets too deep and i'm pushing it with the front spoiler!

i've run blizzac mz 02's and they are ok too but wear like big pink erasers.

if you want the best of both worlds, settle for an all season tire.

I love my bridgestone potenza re950s - they have much better performance than stock toyos and they are much better in the rain and snow also. if you have to stick with one set of tires for year round then these would be the ones I choose

I was going to try those but I went with the Falken Azennis ST-115 in a 235/45/17ZR haven't put them on yet but they were $101 each at victoriatire.com and they have a 360 treadwear rating whereas the Kumhos have a 280 and wore out really fast for me, but the Kumhos had wonderful traction in the dry and incredible traction in the rain, in fact the Kumhos I have right now are almost slick and I still have lots of grip in the rain taking off from a stop, not around corners though, I will let you know how those Falkens are once I get them on

I have to think that some of you have never ridden on a good tire. The kumhos have terrible traction in the rain. Try and pull away from a stop light with a set of Kumho's... they spin and hop. Try it with some potenzas... they spin, but not as bad. Even the Goodyear eagle series gave a good grip. But I have been nothing but upset with Kumho on a 45 series tire. Other than the previously stated, i've also noticed they are much noisier than other tires as well. I do have to give them a good word for making a tire that is going on its 35k mile mark with plenty of tread left.

Thats why they are on almost every police cruiser in america. Outside of performance tires, the Goodyear MT's are incredible tires.
I would still take them over another set of Kumho's unless they were all I could afford.
