Smoked Tails

Ok so I did a SEARCH and didnt find anything. Since I have the ugly 96 tail lights and want to do something with them I would like to have them smoked or tinted or something. So what has everyone used before? Tint? some type or spray paint? what? just curious. Thanks

dam dude... thats an answer within the question itself.... i'm sure some film would work.. and then again, some people did spray, and then again.. not my car.. i aint gonna be looking at it, nor am i driving it... so your own preferance.. and before you do anything be sure you aint gonna be pulled over from the tint..

I think most people use VHT Nite Shades, it's a tint spray. I used it, looks great. Not hard to do. Cost about 20 bucks from Summitracing i think.

get a can of VHT Nightshade, and after applying that , get a bottle of a clearcoat to make it all shiny, then it should look good . But if u mess up while spraying the VHT Nightshade, then just use rubbing alcohol to get it off

you have alot of options. you can use Niteshades, from summitracing or even auto zone carries. or you can take your lights apart and paint the reflectors giving them a unique look. i had my reflectors painted black when i first got them, but eventually just got LEDs then used niteshades on them. check out my pics in my profile of the before and after.

You should use the tint flim, because if anything later on down the road you can easily take it off and re apply it. The spray seems permanent to me, and would be harder to take off.

its actually not too hard. paint thinner gets it off with a little scrubbing, but not too much hard work.

VHT is ok, but it doesnt have a glass like shine.
Have them professionaly shot and they will look tons better. After dealing with the spray can crap I finally wised up.

They were shot with a tinted clear using PPG paint.

I got mine of EBAY for 12.99 it is like a thicker window tint film. It was a bit tough to apply but it looks pretty good. it is also really awesome because you can remove it and reapply as many times as you want.

You could try, but wont be as nice. Thats what makes my car stand out from the rest.
Trust me, I did the spray can tint, and even with wetsanding and buffing they did look ok but the look wasnt permanent and I had to redo them. I finally got tired of that and had them tinted profesionally. Now they shine like glass.

New red/clear tails= 100.00
LED baords from Kevlo= 300.00
Tint from Jons Tinted Tails= 200.000pls shipping
Carbon Fiber trunk=650.00

So tell me, how would you do it?

Spray on tint can get glossy with some clear coating too..but yeah, you probably couldn't get that look like Flava's. I don't care too much about the gloss myself, so I just did some coats of VHT.
