Shutter upon shifting into 4th gear..?

Ok.. 96 Max, 5MT. Just replaced all bearings in transmission, new Redline Synthetic gear oil, New Exedy Stage 1 clutch, Fidanza flywheel. I have about 300 miles driven on this setup, and I seem to be getting a shudder going into 4th. No problems before install, except for the input shaft bearing noise! All other gears go in smooth and engage normal. Seems to be only 4th, only going into it (as Im engaging the clutch), and at highway speeds. I get a shudder like a gr-gr-gr-grab..

..any thoughts? Have I not 'broken it in' enough? Tranny work related? Hmm..

this is probably not the answer you want but I speak from experience. It's the fidanza flywheel. I have it in both of my fourth gens...its just a sacrafice you have to make if you want to run a fidanza. It does not bother me much any more. When you are racing, it does not shutter, it will shutter when you shift at low rpms and try to give it a moderate load on the accelerator.

I am sure other people with chime in who have fidanzas as well. There have been a few threads on this over the years.

ahh.. well the acceleration difference is worth it imo. I want to make sure it is not poor workmanship in the tranny work I had done.. because if so, time is of the essence to let him know theres a problem. Also don't want to go ***** at him, if it's because of the flywheel. Thanks for the feedback, Cardana..

Anyone else also have this occur with a Fidanza flywheel..?

Its your motor and Transmission mounts. You have a grabbier clutch so whats gonna happen is it will grab earlier and thus creating more shake and more work for the mounts. If you have any mounts older then a few years. THIS is your problem. Hope this helps.

I have poly mounts on both of my cars and they do exactly what DJ420 is talking about. I'm not saying his engine mounts are not shot but I don't think they are causing this problem. Hopefully other people will chime in who have a fidanza.

I have poly motor mounts and a poly trans mount and get a bit of shudder when shifting into a gear when the rpms are fairly low. Although I kind of assumed it was the clutch and not the flywheel. I am running a Fidanza but previously I ran a Stillen flywheel which was a bit lighter then the Fidanza and didt experience it.
With the Stillen flywheel I had an Exedy Stage 1, with the Fidanza I have a Clutchnet Stage III.
Might be the Fidanza though, not sure. I have just gotten used to it and try to keep the rpms high when shifting.

yeah, you will not get this problem when shifting at high rmps.

In my supercharged car I have an ACT clutch. In my 95 I have a 5th gen stock clutch...and I have the same shuttering in both cars.

iirc Poly mounts just absorb large movement but small movement is still there. aka the shuttering. The only other thing I can think of is the Fidenza flywheel is out of balance.

Thanks for the input guys! I appreciate it..
