hit the curb trying to avoid an accident, shop quoted me 2.5k?? wtf
hey guys im not a noob i forgot my other user name password so i made a new one. well anyways yesterday going about 40 on a local street some ******* stoped right in front of me so me trying to swirve off i hit the curb going pretty fast. my wheel needs to be turned to about 2 o clock for me to drive streight a shop quoted me 25 hundred for a new control arm, a new shock, and to repair the subframe (1500). i went to local firestone, they told me i just need a new stout bar. While googling strout bars i found the only thing i could find was the ones that go on top of the shocks in the hood, i do not have one of thouse so do u think they were refering to the front stabalizer bar? if so where may i find one because ive had no luck. all i found was thouse strout brace bars.

enik, I watched in horror as my wife did this to our max few years back as she underetimated the turning radius. Probably not running as fast as you were. Your steering wheel being turned at 2 oclock is indicative if your alignment being disturbed, duh right. The part that you show is I believe the sway bar. It could be bent, along with the lower control arm, the sway bar connecting links, and the strut itself. And depending on how you struck the crub your wheel may be bent. Best thing would be to jack that side of the car up and look for evidence from the impact. You could expect to see oil leaking from the strut, newly exposed areas on you front suspension, visibly bent components etc. Snap some pic if you can and post them up. So that others can help/direct as appropriate.

2,500 for fixing front susp (and one side at that) is a rip off IMHO. If you bent the frame, you had to hit the curb (and likely something else too) very hard. Do the work yourself and fix what needs fixin.

Have you even taken a look down there yourself?
What is a 'strout/stout' bar?
A sway bar being bent wouldn't affect your steering wheel alignment. Sure he wasn't talking about a tie rod?
Your best bet, if you don't know what you're looking at underneath the car, is to take it around to a few more shops for a free quote.

Best way to tell is to look at it by yourself, and compare it with the non damaged side to see what parts you messed up.
Or at least get the shop to show you the damage when the car is on the lift.
