Possible transmission problem?

So my 97 SE (auto trans)has started acting weird. When I am in traffic slowing down the car is real jerky like it is shifting down into first gear like there is no neutral. Higher speeds/rpm its fine but around 10-15mph if I let off the gas it becomes a real bumpy ride. I have 127K miles on it and the transmission has never been rebuilt. Is this a sign that the trans is about to go out? I do have the trans serviced at the recommended intervals.

I'm assuming that you verified the tranny oil is at the correct level? Is the CEL on? Any codes being thrown?

I'm having similar problems on a 96 Maxima. Could this be related to the suspension or axles in any way?

Thanks,

matt
