Help Car Dies or surge when braking

background: 96 max @ 95k mile, did the 60k service myself, i have to do a 120k service in the next couple of months

now for the problem: over the last 6-8 months, maybe 1-2 times a month the car would die when i am coming to a stop.
now its happening more frequently, almost 5-6 times a week now...

i have no codes, and the sometimes in the morning i hear a groan and like a sawwing sound when the car idles at the cold start rpm

the car only dies when i am braking or it surges for about 5 seconds if i am hitting the gas really light...its not an everyday problem, but i am not going to wait for it to be a problem. car starts up fine

Is it specifically while braking, as in whenever you're on the brakes, or is it when you're coming to a stop?

Ever cleaned the TB/IACV?

Mine did the same thing, ended up being the MAF sensor, took forever to diagnose but haven't had any issues since I replaced it.

Easy fix to what could have been a complicated issue, thanks for posting it.
