broke a rotor! Brembo too :(

So, I got motivated today and decided it was time for summer wheels. Looks good right? Well I uncovered something quite interesting. My rear Brembo rotor split. So now my car is out of commission until I can get it fixed. Any suggestions where to find cheap replacement rotors/pads? I just want stock replacements. I'm all done with cross drilled. Can't complain though. Been using them for 5 years now.

wowsers.. that sucks! I have heard NOT to get cross-drilled AND slotted, as they were known for cracking. It was recommended I do just slotted.. but really 5 years ISN'T bad for a rotor's life. Im on newer factory replacements, and when I posted a thread looking for opinions on good performance rotors for mine, I was told there was no such thing! lol Guess they were right.. :/

Drilled + slotted run more risk than anything. Blanks are obviously the hardest to break. And slotted have less of a chance of damage than drilled alone.

5 years on drilled & slotted before failure is way longer than I would have thought. When were they last looked over?

Just buy some blanks at Auto Zone.

I've heard of this happening before. I've had my crossed drilled for years with no problems. This does worry me a little though.

I'd say within 500 miles ago. I did replace them with cheapos. I bought decent pads though and replaced the calipers. I ran out of light, so tomorrow I have to try to bleed them.

Brembo does not make drilled stock rotors for the Maxima. Those were drilled by an aftermarket company, which is the whole problem. Proper 'drilled' rotors have the holes cast into them, not drilled, which creates stress points, and ultimately cracks. Seen it multiple times in the past.

Brembo doesn't make cross drilled and slotted rottors. So most likely you had fakes.. where did you get them from?

I dont have fakes..? I have Nissan pads & rotors.. I was thinking about getting some slotted only, but can anyone tell me honestly they notice a difference from JUST upgrading to slotted rotors?! I bought stainless/braided/teflon hoses, but haven't installed them yet. My pads/rotors are like 85% so I think Im just gonna do hoses for now, and see how THAT feels..

..I think I just realized you were trying to address/quote the OP! lol (fail) I am also pretty sure that Brembo is not drilling or slotting any rotors, so they would have definately had to be purchased and altered by a 3rd party company. THAT still wouldn't be bad, save for the fact that 1/2 of THEM are probably lying about the fact that they were Brembo in the first place! lol

wait...a REAR rotor??? don't you have to be e-braking constantly for 500 miles to split a rear rotor?

yea, I don't know. I did learn that the caliper may not have been functioning right, so maybe that had something to do with it.
